Question on AFR/boost gauge setup etc

Guys,

I'm looking to fit an EBC, AFR and boost gauge. What are fellow owners using, how are they setup/installed on the car (i.e. wideband location on exhaust)and where in the cabin are you mounting them?

Any advice/pics would be appreciated.

thanks

Here is what we built for Shank. On the EBC we use the EVC5 from HKS.

For a Boost Controller, I recommend the Greddy Profect B2. Gives you a digital boost display, peak hold, warning, limiter, high and low boost, and more. Very easy to control and holds boost constant. For gauges, DEFI like IA has is the cream of the crop. All electronic gauges use a control unit to save, display, and record functions. If you want a cheaper option, but good quality for gauges, Autometer has the NEXUS with control unit like Defi, less expensive but not as cool. Here are some links -

For the wideband, some people will just put it in one of the factory O2 spots, but you would be best to just install a new bung after the cat!

i wouldn't invest a ton of money in fancy gauges. they look cool as hell, but they're not really useful when you want to find out what's going on at full throttle. things move too quickly and you'll end up using the peak hold feature more than the gauge itself as it will be too hard to see what's going on when you're driving full blast.

i still say the zeitronix unit. it will show you real time numbers, peak hold, and data log onto a PC so you can review the entire run. you can hide it in your glove box if you want. who's gonna be staring at their boost gauge down by the shifter at WOT open in a 600 HP car

not to mention, the peak holds aren't really that useful either. say you're AF or boost spikes for a split second but then levels out, all you're gonna know about is the spike and not really what happened. that's why the data logger is so helpful. the zeitronix data logger will show you TPS, RPM, boost, Lambda, AF, EGTs, all on one chart. you can scroll through the log and pinpoint all the values for any given variable. it's been really handy with my supercharger setup to diagnose some stuff on the dyno.

garyFL is running the Greddy unit for his EBC and seems to be happy with it so far. he said it took some tinkering to get it dialed in, but seems to be working well.

Spend the extra time and counter set those gauges! It makes a huge difference from something that sticks out to something that looks as if it should be there. Mine were flush with the panel.

Thanks for the input lads, most appreciated.

If i place an afr sensor in an existing bung after the cat, would that not throw a cel due to one of the sensors not getting a reading?

You have to weld another bung in to take the reading.

Its not that hard.. most shops that do such performance upgrades do it all the time.

Yeah no worries, was more concerned if using an existing bung would cause issues with the ECU but an extra bung will be used nonetheless.

One last question.

Do the TTs have a factory knock sensor? If not, anyone use one?
