997 = Death to this forum?

Anyone ever check out the 6-speed 993TT forum? Obviously not! It's like being in a ghost town every time I drop in there! Is the interest in modifying the 996TT going to dry up, like it has for the 993TT, when the 997TT arives in a couple of years?

The 993tt is the more popular catagory with another forum.

JASCLASS is infamous around these partsJASCLASS is infamous around these parts
I dont think it will dry up as the 996TT was built for 4 years and the 993TT was built for 2, the first year of the 996TT in 01 more cars were built than the 993TT was in its 2 year life span, the 996TT was overproduced to make it simple.

Good point.

I might also add that not all owners who modify their 993 Turbos or 996 Turbos read these Fourms. As a matter of fact, I'd hazard a guess and say there are lots more people modifying their Turbos than are represented on this or other Forums...

I'm not sure what the other forum could be that is being referred to here, but it is NOT Rennlist. 996TT post outnumber 993TT posts by 300%!

Dock - Obviously not everyone modifying Porsche Turbos are participating in "these" forums. My point though is simple.... the number who do participate are significantly concentrated in the 996 vs the 993. I'm not aware of a forum that is different.

Extrapolation of this would indicate that a couple of years into 997TT production will see a similiar migration of the enthusiast to the newer model. I find it hard to believe, but I'm sure those of you who owned 993TT's would never have guessed that they would be eclipsed in interest by the new, watercooled "Porsche". Some argued that the 996 wasn't even a real Porsche. How things change.

The 997 may be so similar to the 996 that they combine 997TT + 996TT + GT2 in one forum.

My dealer told me that the 997 is just a 'transition' model change - sort of a temporary replacement for the real next-generation 911. From the looks of it, the changes are indeed minor.

My dealer told me the same thing about the 997tt. That's why I'll wait for the 998tt
