No muffler on a 996 C4 is going to gain enough power to base your decision on that. You are looking at less than 5 HP from ANY muffler on a naturally aspirated 996. The FVD mufflers have a nice deep burbble at idle and a clean deep tone during low-mid rpm driving. At wide open throttle they really open up and scream! Not a high pitched annoying sound though, still very throaty! As for reliability, all FVD exhausts come with a 2 year warranty!
