Question Big Tires!

My car is lowered (see pic) and signif neg camber and lives mostly at the track... Does anyone think RA-1 tires 335 on a 12 inch wheel (GT2) will fit??
Zippy seems to think so, so thought I'd ask around before I ruin a set of tires!

TIA

tom

Tom, no actual experience here, but I seem to recall reading that a couple of guys had rubbing with the 335s (mark included).

And don't even consider rear tire options in isolation. You need to
ensure the actual rolling diameter of the fronts are as close as
possible to the rears. If you're on track this becomes even more
important and the tolerances are lower. You have to consult the
manufacturer's tire specs (revolutions per mile).
I know a GT2 that runs 335s in the rear, and I know they did suspension,
fender, and wheel well alterations to accomodate them. I also know of
996tt owners who tried running 315 tires and rubbed their fenderwell
linings down to shiney metal or daylight.

I ran the exact same setup on my 996TT and ended rubbing through the plastic fender shield and the rear left boost hose. The GT2 can accomodate a 12" wheel but the 996TT CANNOT! Save yourself the trouble I had and don't do it.

Heya bud that was with my goldie BBS... those were 2 generations ago and had the incorrect offset for clearance. The new ones work a-ok and we've got 3 people already with the new BBS 12 inch (with the correct offset) and 335 RA-1s a-ok. There is some _slight_ rubbing on the fender liner depending upon how low you are...

I'll be ready with a heat gun, fender roller and spacers when those wheels/tires arrive

Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a fender roller?

have you tried the 315/30/19?? Hossier new tire , do you think it will fit and better, not affect AWD?

Why do you want more tire Tom? It's not going to increase anything but sidewall flex and maybe drag. Contact patch will not be increased. I can understand the wider wheels, but bigger tires without compensating and adding a stiffer sidewalled tire wont help you much at all. And you'd probably have to go wide body or tub the inner wheel well to get those to fit.

Having trouble putting that 650 to the ground? You should probably step up in tires, or downforce or down in power.

What is the correct offset needed to fit a 12" wheel ? and the most extreme you can get with rolling fenders, would 45 - 50 work?

this is an old thread but since up again I have been running 335's on 12's with stock offset and some liner mods and the fender edge cut off with -2.7 camber.
