Thanks for the information. Really helpfull. I already see that beeing on 6speed makes your wallet empty

I have a "92" 964 Turbo and a 996TT. They ARE my daily drivers - Rain or shine! The only time they don't get taken out is if I have to go into New York or there is snow. The 996TT is the better daily driver precisely because of the 4-wheek drive. It is exeptionally stable in the wet and its clutch is easier to use if I get stuck in traffic. The GT-2 is the ultimate Porsche and I'll probably own one some day, but I doubt that the rear wheel drive will ever be as comfortable and reassuring in everyday driving situations as the 4-wheel drive turbos, IMHO.

i think this quote sums it up.

you expect to go to a rear-engine gt2 w/ 450+hp and not expect any troubles? everyone is being very macho in this thread (and maybe they've since learned how to drive their 996 to the extreme) but it has been said again & again that the GT2 is unforgiving; if you screw up, bye bye.

get the turbo w/ its AWD & PSM - it has already saved me a few times.

Hello

I from Sweden and did have the same dilema for some weekes ago, when i read what you are after witht the car, i will say Turbo, the gt2 is not a good daily driver, the cluch is hard and grabby, the difrentiall will look up, it is hard to revers becouse of this, it's very low and the suspention is firm...In my opionion not a nice daily driver, it's a race car and i love mine.....But if you are going to use it alot go for the turbo that you can modifie in to your needs

TT is comfort & easy to drive, it's build for DD, a 2 is a tract car with firm clutch & suspension.
IMHO, car is for drive , not for keep value.

Wollyg,
I talked to Rob, and it is Macedo who has the dyno. I called them and they can do it, just waiting on the ECUs. It should be an interesting comparison.

Thanks for all the inputs! All are making really good sense.

Carendt242: Thats just what I am thinking, I know a car without PSM and RWD will need more to be driven by the head to not make a mistake - but I can also have more fun. On the other hand - a crashed car is no fun. I just need to find out "how" hard it is and if I can live with it. As earlier said, I am driving 3-4 months with RWD on ice/snow each year so I got some experience with this.

SMR: How does the car feel on normal swedish roads? Grattis med bilen

deardara: You are totally right with a car is for driving - not to keep value.

As you may understand from what I am saying, I really want a GT2, but I am afraid a Turbo suites me better, and I will be more happy with a TT in the long terms. I am still in my twenties and want a sportcar and after been saving up the money, I will do the right choice. As you all mentions there are just two parts to think about:

- The comfort of the ride (GT2 are stiffer/lower, harder clutch).
- RWD vs AWD and PSM.

Why I said "Daily Driver" earlier is because I will use it on regular basis on normal roads. It will not be my only car, so I will not use it every day. I will also visit the track 2-3 days a year to improve my driving skill and have a fun time

Damn, why did they make so many different versions...

What else do you have? I mean, if your alternatives are plush, easy to drive cars you can always go in one of them for a change. Because you have others I'd do the GT2. As far as your apprehension of RWD goes, obviously don't hop in the car and drive it with your foot to the floor! Take some time to learn the car-- all the other guys on this forum with GT2s had to learn their cars' capabilities at some point, right? And also, like you said, the GT2 will hold it's price better-- if you get tired of the GT2 you can always sell it and get a Turbo (with some modding cash left over).

The alternatives is a Volvo (so yeah, thats what I will call a easy drive car, and I can choose this every morning IF i would like too). Thanks for your reply.

If it's not the only car and will not use every day, go for the 2 or u'll regret.
It's definite different than a TT.

As far as I know GT2 clutches are TT ones just reinforced (disc) and some extra clamping force(pressure plate) actually the same as the X50 or am I wrong?

msindi: A gallardo in black/black would be something I would like, but atm 996 is the way to go. (And the gallardo is some more expensive than a 2 here in Norway)

deardara: I see you got one. You don't feel it is hard on longer trips (and your back is killing you), don't have any problem going over a speed-bump, and it is not too much to handle as long as you remember its a 462hp RWD car?

I must say I am thinking about going for the 2:

Dunno if I am just crazy since I want to install Navi&a better sound system. Guess there was I reason why Porsche didn't offer this as an option...

Oh btw: Anyone who have made the step from GT2 to a TT? Everyone I have read about made the step form a TT to a GT2

GT2 clutch is not hydraulically assisted like the no feel POS Turbo clutch.

It feels like an old school BMW, before they wussified it and made it into a mush of whatever.

It also makes it a lot easier to do hill start because you always know where it's grabbing.

BTW, my wife has no problem driving the GT2, and also thinks that the Turbo clutch sucks.
