get the turbo w/ its AWD & PSM - it has already saved me a few times.

It's not about being macho. Car control is car control. If you are comfortable driving a good ole fashioned RWD car sideways, it aint no big thing.

The main reason why I got rid of the Turbo was PSM and AWD, which, even when turned off, really isn't off, and won't go sideways the way a real RWD car would.

Instead of depending on electronics to save you, why not take some DE's and learn how to deal with RWD?

The GT-2 is the ultimate Porsche and I'll probably own one some day, but I doubt that the rear wheel drive will ever be as comfortable and reassuring in everyday driving situations as the 4-wheel drive turbos, IMHO.
The GT2 is more like the 964 Turbo, and shows more direct lineage.

After three years with AWD and PSM, I found the driving experience quite uninvolving and sterile.

Who's driving the car? Me or the computer?

In the GT2, there is no question that if you nail that apex and sling shot out of the corner, that it's all you.

In the 996 Turbo you never know because PSM can't be totally turned off, and AWD is annoying. And yes, the Turbo was my DD, and I never drove it with PSM on. It was still a drag.

TT or GT2

I had the same decision. I had a TT X50 (which I loved), but, the way I think is that as long as there is something faster and more rare (GT2), I'm never satisfied. I traded my TT for a GT2 and I honestly don't think that I'll ever sell it. (famous last words). It does ride a little hard and the low front end can be a problem, but, it's the greatest thrill ride I've ever driven.

I drive my car to work a couple of days per week and it's fine. I say, go with the GT2

Sound just like me. I may be stupid, but it really looks like it will be a GT2 by a few months, after I have free'd some more money. Thanks everyone for your replies! Guess you need to be more involved in the driving with the GT2, but thats something I want.

Now after experiencing the GT2 feels alot like my Z only ten times better at everything and very controllable. So I would say if you've always driven RWD than go GT2 you will not regret it.

Agreed, but also why i modded it and did the RWD conversion also, i still want a real GT2 though and probably will get one!

It all depends on you, what type of person YOU are and where you live (Weather and so on)

It should make it a fairly easy decision, 996tt is an amazing daily driver, GT2 is not for most people. If you love stiff scary rides, GT2 is for you!

996TT- Positives: More comfortable, AWD for the snow and Ice, Less expensive. Negatives: Not a GT2

GT2- Positives: It's a GT2. Negatives: Most crashed Porsche (from what I've heard).
