ECU Removal
Not sure of the size, but go to Sears and buy a complete set of torx bits and the handle that holds them. The handle has a little magnet that holds the bits in place. Since I've owned Porsches, the set has proved invaluable.
I htink the sub ones is a T-20 or T-25...I agree with Bob,
I bought one of those Craftsman like 200 piece tool sets for cheap (they always have one or two on sale)...I know craftsman is not hte best but for occasional use like myself it is excellent value...

Thanks NC Bob and msindi, I'll pick up a set and post the actual size of the Torx required to remove the Bose box.
Sincerely,
Paul

At walmart I got a (good enough) Stanley set of individual Torx sockets that went from 8 to 55 size for $20. Sears had a similar set (not Craftsman) for $36. I also got a nice set of capscrew (allen) sockets for $10 at walmart.
Hi all, for reference, the Torx size is actually T-30.
Also, note that in my 2003 car, after you remove the Bose box AND the Lower Carpet section, the panel with the ECU is held in by Three 10mm hex nuts, not "two 10mm bolts and a 10mm nut" per the instructions. And the hex nut at the passenger side rear is concealed pretty well by the bracket that holds the Bose box, so you definitely need an extention to your socket wrench.
The center three wiring harness plugs have some pretty slick fasteners on them: you first push in a release, then a black plastic strap pivots up and out of the way as the plug comes loose.
I'm sending off my ECU Monday morning, and I'll be installing by mid-week.
Sincerely,
Paul
