I can attest to that. On the second day after installing the fabspeed, I'm in this parking lot and I start up my car. A few seconds later, I hear a car alarm go off at about 25 yards away. I think to myself, "all right, what moron set off their car alarm". Then I back up and start driving through the lot. As I approach the offending car, the alarm has shut off. But, as I get right behind it (nearing the exit to the lot), I hear a couple of quick chirps, and off it goes again. At that point I realized that it was I who set of this guy's alarm... both times.

EM 996 GTS. Just curious, what do you mean by that? (taking about 1000 miles to cooked the exhausts)

Just curious what happens after the 1000 mile mark, as I just installed the Fabspeed.

Thanks in advance!

One more question on the exhaust issue. I love the tone of the Fabspeed at WOT. Basically sounds like aural sex.

And, strangely enough, it has one spot that is very quiet (when cruising at around 2700-2800) which is perfect if you're say taking a road trip.

But, at moderate accleration, it can get pretty "boomy". Has anyone tried to add a little sound proofing to the cabin to reduce the noise level just a bit?

It's not crucial as the exhaust makes a ton of power, sounds great at WOT, and I really don't care if I set off car alarms or scare geriatrics, Naderites, etc. But it would be nice to add a little more quiet at moderate acceleration (e.g., for when I get stuck in friggin traffic).

Not to mention Champion is the exclusive dealer for the exhaust, and they just quoted me $4600 installed AND THATS WITH ME BUYING A CAR THERE!!!! It would be more if I bring a car I buy elsewhere there!!! I too am curious if it is louder then the fabspeed. I have heard the Tubi, and I didn't think it was THAT loud.

when I first installed my exhausts, after the first couple drives it smelled funny... I think its like the smell of burning paper or plastic on the new installed exhausts. The seller told me that, that the exhausts is not really "broken-in" yet. So, a few days later, I drove to LA for the weekend. And yes, after that, it gets deeper sound.

From what I heard, Fabspeed(loud) and TechArt (racing) had similar sound... and that "low rev" growl (between 0- 1.5K RPM).

and Yes, setting off people alarm(open space) was quite common for me. Especially the alarm on a Japanese car. (they are so sensitive)

plus, I dont think sound proofing the cabin would help on those exhausts. One thing, I hate about my exhausts is, I can't hear too well when Im talkin on the cellphone while driving!

Thanks for the reply! I'm going to give the sound proofing a try just for the heck of it. If it works, I'll report back.

EM - the Tubi is a 1-piece system...

Along these lines, I found this on the internet. This guy took it farther than I would have the patience to do... but the same concept.
