I dont think you have a highly modded Porsche TT... if you did then you would know what I mean...
We also have RWD 999 tts- for example the gt2 is a RWD only and it doesnt have the dreaded traction control... so thats THE platform to do the conversion. However, we with the TTs also do RWD conversions- there is a handful of guys with such a set up. But still that's really not the reason why we are not 9 second cars. for one, in my opinion, we can't turn off the PSM which hinders the 60 ft. launch( I know I did about 100 runs with mine). Imagine ur Viper with traction control that you can't turn off... imagine getting high 1.6 60 at BEST and usually average 1.7s.... we get wheel hop ... and not to mention the 1st gear is useless.
Most 700 HP TTs run 10..6 to 10.8 seconds. And that is about $35K
Then If you do the internals ur looking at another $20K to $30K depending on what you add. And these cars run 10.3s best to 10.5s....
Im not going to get into my car ... but very soon Im going after the 9 second pass. I personally know of two 9 seconds tts but thats $110K in mods.
Not sure if I answered you the question.... I got myself a evo 8 last year thats runs low 10s regularly.. fully weighted car that I drive every day...
Some things are not meant to do 1/4 mile... and porsche is one of them.
Its alot easier and cheaper to mod a EVO 8, SUPRA, VIPER- and do 9s....
just my .02 cents,
markski

Markski, thank you for the reply. I have owned Porsche's in the past and love the TT's. Thought I would see if any had run 9's. I have heard there is a 9 second white 996 in Las Vegas? I am possibly in the market for a TT..
Thanks again for your reply..

And he did run a 9 second.
Anyway, like I said- you will have to spend twice the money on mods compared to a viper to get it to do the same ETs...
I recall Shank spent $40K on the 1200 HP VIPER upgrade. Thats nothing compared to what we have to go thru.

The 996TT platform is a paradox for drag-racers. It's got the ideal weight distribution, and an engine that can be tuned for serious power, but the electronics get in the way, and the suspension is far better adapted for handling that dragging, so they can be a ***** to launch.
Also, the computer gets in the way of brake-boosting.
That said, I suspect there are one or two other 9-second cars out there that we don't hear about. These days, mid-10s are available in off-the-shelf packages if you've got the coin for it.
I Agree... not everyone wants to post times. Look at what happened to me with my other car- the evo 8. I went to the track twice and now everyone knows what my car runs... we went to run some cars for some hard cash and they backed off the minute they saw my car and my tuner. They all knew my car was fast but didnt know how fast.... now they do. Apparently its the 6th over all fastest EVO 8 thats documented. Im full weight with all seats and AC. I drive the car everyday and have over 40K miles on it.
The other 5 cars are either Tuner garage queens that only come out to play during the racing events or they are fully gutted non street driver customer cars...
