they are leather and yes...even the fiberglass is heavier then the CF seats im talking about...but the CF seats BETTER be lighter for the 2000 a seat that one would pay for them.

BTW...im pretty sure im getting GT3 seats for my TT for stock clubsport racing so im all for em...even if they are a bit heavier then alternatives...

Also,(not knowing what else you have done) here are a few ideas:

change out the battery for a Deka ETX14 http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2353060

change out the cage bolts with titanium bolts

change the wheels to something lighter

coilovers

change out rear glass to Lexan

change the steering wheel to non-airbag racing wheel

change to an electric steering pump in front trunk

Other things I can think of are more pricey and not street smart (or possibly legal).

Nice cage. Now all it needs is the correct padding on it.

great project and an interest of mine also. what do you use the car for?? with the cage you now have to wear a helmet to drive so I assume it is full racetrack only? where do you run it and how does it do? are those the clubsport motons or race version? I am looking to go to motons also!

They might be no more then 2 lbs lighter per seat, the gt3s as is with leather are under 10 lbs I'm sure of, I know me recaro pole positions in my m3 were, and they are practically the same seat!

9ff's CF parts say they save:

-6 lbs from CF roof
-28 lbs from hood
-22 lbs from each door

so 56 lbs right there!

grussell,

Great as usual!

When are you planning to go GT700?

How much do the BBS Race wheels weigh by the way? The 18 inch Manthey MM2 (made exclusively for Manthey by BBS) in magnesium are supposedly said to be the lightest 18s in the world. They weigh 7.3 kg or 16.09 lbs per rim. How do the BBS Race mags compare?

Manthey also has CF doors available. Just in case you're interested. They claim it saves 50 kg or 110.2 lbs compared to original doors.

See the catalog for yourself. Attached.

why not pull the airbags and go with a better steering wheel since you're running a full cage and harnesses

Yeah, I think I will do that but there is not much weight to be saved there. I already pulled out the side airbags and replaced the door panels with RS parts.
