The 993 wide body is a beautiful car. One of the most beautiful ever.
That said, it dates back to a 1995 design, technology and engineering. We're so far removed from that.
Also don't forget that gaskets, rubber hoses, etc... wear with time as well as mileage.
My opinion is that the latest is always the greatest.

I would go more toward 997 GT3 for your next P-Car.

Ok, i'll give you my address, ship em on down tomorrow, k?
for me, i'd love to personally have a 993tt, but it would definately be a garage queen, so it would never be a substitute for a 996tt, rather a priority first "must have" when I begin my car collection....

That is going to far- try well sorted against well sorted and there is not a lot (nothing) in it.Ultimately - as a track car it may prove right.
In standard form the 996 as a road car is far more civilised and as such more like other(non Porsche) cars. The 993 retains the quirkiness from Porsche history and is far less mainstream. These comments apply to the 6 speeds as the Tip removes any sense of driver involvement and to me is vitually another car.
I have both 993 and 996 and love both !
