W8MM is infamous around these parts
I especially liked the "verdict": "But when the voices settle, the verdict will remain unequivocal: the Carrera GT is the best supercar ever made, and probably the most exciting road car in history."

yeah, that review is exactly how i envision it - especially in relation to it's competition. this writer apparently "gets it".

you been to leipzig yet for "the ride"? my turn is early march and i can't wait! if you haven't gone yet, it would be great to meet you if you can make it and there is an open slot.

The Carrera GT doesn't seem to have the most power, doesn't seem to be the fastest. I know it has amazing brakes and handling but don't remember figures and I'm not sure if its the best at these either,

HOWEVER, even though it doesn't do anything the best (in raw terms) it accomplishes everything almost perfectly. Every review I've read people say the same thing. It's not that fastest etc, but none the less it is the perfect sports car.

Of the current exotics, SLR, Enzo, Carrera GT, Veyron, Ford GT (I'm young so I don't realise the significance of this car) etc... I would definately want a GT above all. It looks exotic but not over-done. It has a stiff ride but it's not painful, the brakes will stop on a dime but are progressive...

Sorry, I sound like I'm trying to sell the car. I'm gonna go day dream somewhere else.

sounds like Porsche to me :-)

btw, it'll probably have substantially less required maintenance and fewer unscheduleds than the others as well.

No, I haven't been to Leipzig yet.

I really need to sit in a "wide-option" seat before I finalize my order. I'd also like to see some color combinations different than the one on the Geneva show car for the same reason.

I asked my dealer some months ago about going to Leipzig this April or May. He was told by PCNA (Atlanta) that no more American-customer events at Leipzig would be happening Supposedly; there will be a Spring CGT-ride event at Barber Motorsports Park where the Porsche Driving Experience events are held.

One of my European web-pals (sounds more modern than pen-pal) made some enquiries at the factory for me about a wide-seat-option fitting session. His contact said that this would only be possible in Leipzig. I got really steamed about this until I learned that there may (possibly) be a way for me to go to Leipzig for a fitting (sitting?) session without PCNA running interference (nasty pun intended) for me.

Who knows?

I love the Carrera GT, but the specifying process for this car is not nearly as satisfying as for a Boxter at one tenth the price. Seems upside-down to me
