Hello - Newbie here...
Hello from Vancouver, BC.
I have loved Porsche Turbo's since the '94 3.6...my love affair only continued to heighten with the 993TT and of course the 996TT (and yes initially, the 997TT). Having been an "M-Head" for almost as long (M Roadster/two M3s/M5), I was looking pretty hard for a Z8 at the end of this summer but the "right car" never surfaced, not to mention the frame scare currently being endured by Z8 owners.
I acquired my 996TT a couple weeks ago through fate. I was picking up my truck from detailing. While waiting, I was admiring a silver 996TT being finished off in the front of the shop. I commented on the car offhand, and the shop owner gushed that despite being a 2001, it only had about 14,000 kilometers (±8,800 miles), was crazy-mint, had just been picked up by a local all-makes dealer on a trade up to an F430, and would likely be for sale soon. Bemused, I asked which dealer it was, only to find out it was the same guy I've bought my last few cars from!
I dialed him up on my cell and said "so...I'm looking at this 996TT at the detailing shop..." to which he burst out laughing. We had a deal two hours later.
The car is mint, local, no accidents, low mileage, Meridian silver, all books up to date, perfect inspection (well, it needed new wiper blades!!). I am thrilled to death. It is such a true sports car, an absolute joy to drive. I've never owned a turbocharged car and the onset of boost is indescribable, like being at the back of a rollercoaster!
I am very much looking forward to the Porsche ownership experience, particularly of the forced-induction ilk!!
An Escort SR7 went in yesterday. Next up, a few performance mods thanks to a new acquaintance on the Board.
As for the Board itself, thanks to you all for your educational and informative posts, I look forward to adding to the banter.
Warm regards,
vanboost
P.S. pictures are subject to weather and washing (and demand, it's just another stock 996TT.)

Vanboost,
If you are thinking about modding your beast into something like the GTXXX kits, drop me a PM. I did all the mods on my car with a mate of mine up here in Kelowna.
Enjoy your new ride.

congratulations on your 996TT. If you care to mod it, this is certainly the board for you. So many nice modded TT's on here. Yes, you have to post pix, it's very rude to come on here as a newbie and not do so lol
Welcome! Even though it is a stocker I'd love to see pics-
I love seeing all sorts of cars in different places, even if they are stock.
The beauty of a photograph.

Thanks to all. Having a real tough time posting a decent-sized photo (my SLR only goes as small as 1936x1296).
It looks like I squeezed a miniature shot in as my avatar...does a butchered 800 x 600 make it below??
Nope...
