Running 19" Wheels in the City
SubscribeHey Guys!
I've heard people having problems running 19" Wheels for their 996 for city driving. I have a set of TechArt 19" and i'm planning to install them next summer (i'm going to put my winter tires/rims soon). Is anybody running 19" wheels and driving in cities with lots of potholes (ex, NYC?). Any advise/experience would help! Thanks!
Don't want to run 19"s and have one of my rims crack/bend in the first week.
Regards,
Jason

My car has over 30k miles with 19" Techarts with no problems driving in L.A.
good call! i'll get the smarttire system. any recommendations on which generation/where to buy? i think tirerack sells them right?
For your sake if you really are going to drive in NYC DO NOT I say DO NOT get 19 inch wheels unless you got Mobile Wheel Repair and the tow bed on Speed Dial and a spare set in the garage. The look is hot if you live where the roads aren't pure garbage. just think about it.... a tire bout an inch thick in the rear 25 profile. 18's are bad enough and the only reason the stocks dont get screwed is the fact they have no lip. IMO

well, the 19" are TechArts, so the qualtiy/craftmanship should be decent... i don't think the techarts have a lip... hehe...

You are saving yourself from a world of hurt, no matter how much you pay attention, potholes and other stuff will end up getting you in the longrun, not to mention the comfort factor.Originally Posted by angldrkns9

Blah you guys are babies
I dont live in Manhattan as you know Jason, but i feel that even makes it worse for when im in NYC not knowing all of the roads and best routes, yet i still manage to make it around, especially if there is traffic you can go slowly and maneuver around it
