Comparison between stock 996TT and a chipped TT??

Has anyone performed a roll on comparison between a stock turbo and a car with either the Upsolute, Imagine, Evo and etc stage 1 ECU upgrade?

I know the manufacturers generally quote between a 70-80 hp increase over stock with the upgrade. Have these increases been proven by a dyno? How does this translate to real world acceleration? Should a chipped standard turbo out run a GT2?

Thanks.

I just got my Upsolute ECU back today and intalled it in the car. I also had the Evo DVs and a Techart exhaust installed last week. If I'm not mistaken, my car is now something like a Stage 2 and should be putting out somewhere in the low-500 hp at the crank. Boost has been raised from the stock 0.6-0.7 bar at WOT to consistently 1.0-1.1. The difference in power and acceleration is very noticeable. I am very pleased with the results. Have not dynoed the car yet but I am confident that it is significantly quicker than stock. There does not seem to be any driveability issues (yet)...no rough idling, uneven acceleration or anything like that. Well, today is only the first day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my CEL won't come on as some have reported after chipping. Also, my Techart exhaust now seems to scream much louder after the increased boost ...much to my delight!

John,

Thanks for the feedback on your new mods. Sounds like your car is running great. 1.0 to 1.1 bar boost is a healthy improvement over stock. It would be great if you could elaborate more after you have put a few more miles on your car. Do you have any friends with a stock turbo to do a side by side comparison?

Thanks again and enjoy your turbo.

I have a friend with an X50 turbo with EP stage 2 loud, airfilter and diverter valves. I have the EVO/IMAGINE Auto/PES-Tuning stage 2. IMO no comparison. His X50 takes what feels like an eternity to get up to speed. I drove the cars back to back many times. My stage 2 pulls much harder, makes much more low end power and doesn't feel like there is hesitation making power. My turbos are spooling and he is still waiting. I couldn't believe the difference.

Lou

evo stage 2

LSM, you have EVO Stage 2. Does that include the exhaust from EVO or did you get something else?

I too am thinking about doing the same thing and curious as to the specifics.

I recently had the Upsolute software, Fabspeed exhaust and a BMC intake installed and all I can say is that there is a night a day difference. The car was not slow from the factory, but the "pull" would quickly taper off as the rpm's climbed. Now it just glues me to the back of the seat and I have a hard time beating the rev limiter in the first few gears. VERY noticeable increase in performance. I think a car with these upgrades can easily overtake a stock GT2 in a straight line. Last time a car with the same upgrades was dynoed, it made 460 awhp which translates to about 550hp at the crank. Not bad ehh...??

If Stage 1 is a "D" cup, how do you classify what you're sporting?!?

I drove Lou's car when it was stage 1 I think (thanks Lou). It did exactly what he said. Pulled much earlier and continued with just stage 1. It was a surprising difference. That is why I can't what to go to Stage 4GTR ... cause ... Damn!

My 03 car was dynoed stock at 378.3 rear wheel HP at 5812rpm and 391.6 ft/lb at 3146rpm

With just the upsolute I got 459.1 rwhp at 5821rpm and
498.4 ft/lb at 3342rpm

This was with the front differential disconnected on a Dynapack Dyno

What is the best part is the response of the car is amazing there is no lag and the turbos spool up right away

With regards to a comparison between breast size and upgrades, they are similar. 2 sizes. Just right or too small.

A couple of weekends ago, another board member and I ran side by side on Hwy 280. His car had an Upsolute chip and DVs while my car was still completely stock. We started in 3rd gear at 60mph then floored it at the same time. We did several side by side runs and his chipped car pulled on me each time. Unfortunately we had to slow down prematurely on each run due to slower traffic ahead. We then switch cars. Driving the cars back to back made me notice that his car was definitely faster and had no driveability issues. That helped sell me on the Upsolute chip.

My only hesitation about chipping in the past was fear of voiding the factory warranty, but the feedback from this board seem to indicate that most dealers in the Bay Area are pretty cool about it. So I said to hell with it and went for it.

That " other car " was mine and each time I jumped many car lengths ahead of John immediately and kept pulling away until traffic. Now that he has the Upsolute AND an exhaust , I suspect he will pull ME esp at higher RPMs ! Hope to hear your TechArt pipes soon .

If anyone does a search they can find many dynos I have posted. If you can't ask me and I will email any level you want. I have spent a ton of time on the dyno with these cars as many can confirm.
