Stock vs X50 Muffler; difference?
Stock vs X50 Muffler; difference?
Hey guys,
looking at a pair of X50 mufflers that i'm gonna pick up this weekend and was just wondering if it's any different to the stock muffler? Since our mufflers are directly connected to the CATs, I was hoping that there would be a lower-cell CAT or better flow in the X50 vs the stock.
can someone chime in on it? dealer has no idea if the X50 muffler is the same as stock, GT2 mufflers, or some third variant of the stock muffler.
thanks !

the X-50 muffler (GT2) is somewhat better than the stock version. It has slightly better flow and slightly louder. Part of the $17,500 package.
Same stock cat cell count nothing lower.
IMHO it IS NOT worth changing to from stock. I GAVE mine away!
Only possible option if this is your only choice is to remove the outer most baffle. this makes it again, slightly louder, but probably not really worth it.
You could cut it open and then do some real damage if you are getting one for cheap. I have been there done that and now I run STRAIGHT PIPES.

thanks everyone who chimed in. As it stands, it appears that the X50/GT2 either have identical or very similar muffler given their identical part number where as the standard TT has it's own part number.
The plumbing of the two remains the same, and employs the same 2x400cell CATs. The main noticable difference is the 9mm vs 4mm holes, has slightly better flow, less back pressure and deeper/louder sound.
Common Verdict: Great if you're looking for something that's slightly louder, with no expectations of performance gain. Great to buy cheap and gut out the CATs, or for people who are not looking for a big performance boost. Power-Hungry modders should go straight for aftermarket solutions.
thanks everyone for your inputs.
