Test drove a 911 turbo! wow!
I could say I've driven alot of cars in the past. A few examples would be;
06 c6, 03 z06, 04 sti, 06 evo MR, 00 m5, 05 m3 zcp, 03 aa stg2 m3, 06 caymanS, 05 boxsterS, 01 911, 04 911 40th, 03 s55 amg, 03 cl55 amg, 03 e55 amg, etc.
You name it, I've probably driven it. I just get the enjoyment of feeling a new driving experience and different types of cars. But none of them compared to what I experienced today. Saw a beautiful yellow 911 turbo sitting infront of a dealership. It was a 2002 911 turbo, yellow on black w/ cf trim. Amazing. Drove in, talked to a sales guy, he grabbed a key and we were on our way.
WOW. I finally learned why it was one of the best sports cars in the world. In 1st gear the 4wd rips your face off and at 3k rpms, it completely blows it away. The rpm's felt like it would rev forever, climbing and climbing. I was going 130mph down a 2 lane road in a blink of an eye. Every other car turn into a speck in the rearview mirror with just a little WOT. I never felt getting thrown into my seat that hard before. I giggling like a school girl as I try to mend the whiplash. I took one of my favorite twisty back roads and theres one long winding S curve I would usually take at about 60-70mph. I took it going 95mph,
sweet jesus it felt like 60!!!
The car is so stable and comfortable, it gives you so much confidence in the car. I was surprised how easy the car was to drive. Clutch was light and short, shifter was smooth and accurate, a little notchy. Car was so easy to rev match and heel toe. The turbo was pretty quite inside, wish it sounded a little louder like the n/a c4s. With the windows open @ WOT I could hear the turbos sucking in everything around it. Awesome sound. Roadnoise wasn't loud at all on the Potenza RE050's. Handling is amazing, dead on, barely any play at all. Brakes were absolutely fantastic. You could feel the gforces turning your brain into mush. Blows everything I've driven away. This completely changed the way I thought about... everything! Before I knew it, I drove the turbo for 1hr and 15mins.
That was the best 1hr of my life.

Really depends on the relationship you have with the dealer. I would take my 951 at first for service there (that was until I decided to do all the work myself on that car) and then the 964.

Yeah, i faintly remember my stock days - and think my first test drive left me smitten too, however, I NEVER heard hissing turbos stock.
Well I am new to Porsche (about three months since 1st test drive then purchase). I have a 565 RWHP KB Cobra with over 500 ft lbs of tq at 2200 RPM's and the 996 actually shocked me with the STOCK power. Tq was good and the speed of my then stock x50 was pretty good. I think like any car once you mod (like me now) you kind of forget how it was. I also don't remember hissing turbo's but it did sound good.
