Anyone know the tranny gear ratios for the manual and tip 996TT

I have not been able to find the individual tranny gear ratios for the manual (1-6) and tiptronic (1-5) transmissions. Does anyone know where I can find this information? I am trying to create something for the tip cars.

In addition, does anyone make a chip for the Tiptronic control unit to improve shift response and rpms? There are places that offer this for many other tiptronic vehicles that offer great results. Most recently, I heard of an Audi RS6 with the Tiptronic upgrade improve 1/4 mile times by over 1/2 second! That's significant!

I hope someone offers this for the 996TT Tiptronic control unit.

Let me know.

msindi,

Killer Angel redline is 8100 rpm's. The mph is based on 25.4" diameter Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. And yes, the above fourth gear ratio is correct.

1st gear - 56.1 mph
2nd gear- 91.6 mph
3rd gear- 120.9 mph
4th gear- 151.9 mph
5th gear- 185.1 mph
6th gear- 216.4 mph

msindi,

I have not redlined sixth gear. It's been to just under 7500 rpm's in sixth. The GPS read 201 mph at the time. The calculations are from Paul Guard of Guard Transmissions. All my gears are from Guard.

And what is the rear end gear in the tip and manual? I assume it is the same for both....

What is the Killer Angel and the CGT?
I am new to this board and have no idea what they are. Is it some sort of custom tranny for the 996tt?

Also, who is TTP in Germany? Does anyone have a contact number of URL for a website?

Thanks.

Final drive:

Manual 3.44:1
TIP 2.89:1

Killer Angel is my "stock" 996tt.
CGT=Carrera GT

TTP is a very good German Tuner - www.t-t-p.de

Has anyone put the 3.44 ratio in the Tip? That would sure help acceleration and possibly put it up to snuff with the manual....

If not, has anyone modded their Tiptronic to improve acceleration?

Thx.

Doesn't this mean that the Tip can hit 60mph in 1st gear while the manual requires a shift to hit 60mph? This should help level the playing field and improve acceleration, right?

02TurboX50,

I do not know of any alternative R&P gears available for the 996tt's.

Are you sure that is correct?
The stock 6 speed manual transmission hits redline in 1st at only 36 mph? That seems awfully low? I would think it would be close to 60mph in 1st?

Can anyone confirm the mph at redline for all gears with the manual and the tip?

Thx.

Stock 996tt manual with stock tires. I have round out to 7000 rpm's. The below speeds will be slower @ 6750 rpm's. If you would like some confirmation, call Paul Guard @ Guard Transmission for a computer graph.

1st gear-39.6 mph
2nd gear- 73.7 mph
3rd gear- 107.2 mph
4th gear- 135.0 mph
5th gear- 162.7 mph
6th gear-201.5 mph

cjv- Thanks!

Do you have a formula you can use to figure out the tip? I didn't realize that the tip had a different final drive gear than the manual.

It would be interesting to compare.
Thx.
