Simba, you are right on. Think traction circle, and downforce on right front tire on a high-banked track such as Daytona.
I have had a left front tire explosion on an AA altered center-steering roadster in a drag race scenario at a speed considerably higher than 150, and it was scary but controlable, as in no spin and no guard rail contact. No extreme downforces or lateral forces in the equation.

I saw a mod Viper do this in Fontana Speedway at 140 MPH. He skidded along the wall and totalled his car after the rear tire blew out. No spins, he was amazing in keeping it under control.
Having just gotten off the track a few minutes earlier and seeing what could have happened to me put the fear of God in me.
This is scarry.
