Sequential Shifter--Cary's car?

I was at Pacific Porsche for the feb 7 fun run, and saw Cary's blk Turbo, but didn't get a chance to meet him. I noticed his shifter mounted high. Is this the new Sequential Shifter upgrade as seen in the current issue of Excellence?
Overall, an awesome looking car. Any more pics/details would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

How the hell is anyone seeing the Excellence issue with Chad's car? I thought it was in the April issue. Last time I checked March hadn't come out yet?

Who needs a short shift kit when you can have an SQS...I want one... I like how they show it installed in a GT3 for one of the pics. Just one more motivating factor...

How much is that thing???

I found it...2400 Euro's for the manual one and 3,230 for the electromagnetic assisted one. Talk about smooth fast shifting!!!!

That sequential shifter sounds awsome in theory. I'm a little concerned with the 37,000 additional moving part required for it to opperare properly. I can't imagine trying to fix that thing on the kitchen table!

The shifter that was in my car for the Feb 7th run was a regular H pattern shifter that has been extended 5.50 inches over the standard shifter for more comfortable shifting. I’m using both a B&M short shift base and a B&M trans mounted short shift kit to accommodate all the added height. Once you get use to it, it’s really hard to get back in a standard type shifter.

There is another sequential shifter coming to the market really soon that is American built and should be a little less expensive than the Cartronic one. If things go as expected, I will have on in my car for testing very soon and will be able to tell you more about it. I was lucky enough to briefly drive a GT3RS with a factory Sequential which was very cool so, I'm now dieing to try the street car shifter to compare. The factory race box is a straight cut gear box rather than a synchromesh box making it necessary to shift the box a bit slower and always use the clutch but, I still think it will be a big jump forward.... hopeful more to come soon.

Cary - I have the in-car B&M and am about to add the under-car one...I understand from above you have both...How is the shift effort?? what setting is your under-car one at?? ANy potential negative effects on such a short shift to tranny and syncros?

The only reason I have both is because my in-car is 5.5" longer than stock and because of the added length the throw became longer than stock with only the in-car. I have the trans mount short shift on the middle and really like the feel. It's all personal feel though, as long as you're not hurting the transmission by shift it too quickly. For me the stock is almost a joke but the in-car is about 15% too fast for my personal taste. I've driven a car with the standard length in-car and trans mount and found it wasn't that much harder to shift but, felt too much like a switch to me and found it took a little getting use to. If I was to do it that way I would start out on the longest throw.
