Searching for a TT- options / standard eqip

I have been looking to trade up from my cab to a 01-02 Turbo, and am trying to educate myself a little more about the options on them while in my search.
In some of the ads I have seen the sellers are listing Xenon lights as options, as well as the suede headliner. Am I mistaken, or were these not standard equipment on the turbo?

Hey, I just did the exact thing (upgrade to from a 996 cab to an 02 Turbo) about 2 months ago!

All turbos have Xenon lights. Not sure about the headliner but mine had it and I don't think it's a specific option (my car didn't have an option code for 'suede headliner').

PM me if you want more info since I did research on pricing, etc.

Thanks, thats what I thought. So any sellers stating options of xenon lights or suede headliners just probably aren't very knowledgeable about the car, and I don't need to look for those as options. By the way, does anyone know about what percentage of 02's were X50? It seems to be a hard option to find.

By the way, I wasn't a big fan of yellow, but your car is beautiful...

x50s are a much smaller percentage. Remember that it was essentially an $18k option to add 30HP, bigger turbos (with more lag), steel synchros, and better intercoolers. If you're going to end up modifying later on, it doesn't matter whether you get x50 or not. When I was searching, the only factory options that affected my pricing was whether it had x50 and/or a full aerokit. Other options did not add any value to the price of the car in my eyes.

Yes, I would be modding it, but figured the X50 would be a better starting point to work up from. Wouldn't be a deal breaker though, thats why I also consider an 01.
Is there a factory sport suspension option to look for, or is it just better to go aftermarket for suspension? Some of the ones I've seen pictured look like they have a lift kit.

X50 would be a better starting point if you don't intend to go past the K24 turbos (which is fine). The factory suspension isn't that great no matter which option you take. The ROW suspension is lower. The 'lift kit' look is the stock height. One of the Bilstein based suspensions (PSS9, Ruf, Techart, etc) are best street/track. If you want better, you may want to look at JIC/Cross or Motons.

well if you had a "choice", an X-50 car with nav, aerokit, X-73 suspension, full carbon package, and sports seats would be a nice "place to start"! That's how mine "started out".
good luck.

So, X73 is the sport suspension? Is it not worth looking for if I'm likely to mod the suspension anyway?

What's the point of looking for one with it and then wanting to mod?

I would say that the more modding you are planning to do, then the more options you should entertain with respect to the original car. I wouldn't try to narrow down the original car due to options that you're going to change anyway!

Actually, if you're planning to mod, the best deal is to find a car with most of the mods already in place...so all you will have to do is fine tune it. Mods don't bring much return on the cost - so if you're looking for to end up with a modded machine then search for a modded one.
