Factory Subwoofer Question - Mounting and Trim

How does the factory subwoofer mount? I picked one up, but it looks like there should be something in the car to screw it to? It looks like it has 2 mounting bosses that are located at the front lower of the sub box. Anyone? Pictures?

Also, the one I bought doesn't have the trim that goes around the air ports on the front of the box, are these available form the dealer?

your missing 2 metal brackets that go on each side. the get screwed down to the metal plates underneath the carpet (notice a cutout of the carpet...)Then thier is a torx screw that gets screwed in from the ported opening...onto the plate.
the plate and the bose covers...not too ure if you can buy them...good posibility you can... go to the dealer and ask...

Nope - I got an aux line-out wiring kit from SWStereo that plugs into the back of the CDR220 Becker and provides me with F/R LH & RH RCA jacks. I'll be adding a small amp under the passenger seat to run the Bose sub via my own speaker wiring.

No, I got it some time ago, probably at least 3-4 months. I'm just now getting around to putting it in.

That's brings up a good question though, what aftermarket speakers will fit in it? My guess is that the stock Bose speakers probably suck.

Yea the stock BOSE is not something to put in - way under-powered for one thing. I've got the stock BOSE and have been watching threads for new possibilities.

caraudioinnovations.com

they have a box for 699.
it consists of 3 jl w0's 6.5 in subs.im driving the subs with a jl audio amp (very minimal power needed)...

im running everything else stock (03 bose cdr23 headunit) and the systemn really sounds sweet...

the box is heavier (not too much...maybe 15lbs more)..but its way worth it..
its also like 10% bigger...but you can barely notice. fits great where the factory subs fit...and hit way harder.

This is a solution for someone who wants more bass out of the stock system without adding a huge amount of weight and size to his car.
