New member here...took delivery of my 01 TT 5 mins ago!
Hey everyone,
New member saying hi! I just took delivery of my 6sp 01 black on black 996 TT and Im thrilled. The car has 45,500 miles on it (from florida) and it is in extremely good shape; the only thing is that the clutch is on its way out (as I was warned about). I have an appointment next week to get the clutch replaced through the person I bought the car from; he charged me $1,100 CAD including labout to replace the clutch (which I think is a pretty good deal).
Anyway, Im looking forward to getting the clutch changed so i can put some power to the ground and see what this car has to offer. So far Ive just been able to lightly drive it around.
I live in montreal and I do plan on driving this car year-round as my daily driver so I have a set of winter tires waiting to be installed. I have one question; should I use the factory rear rims for winter driving or do people find a noticeable difference with a narrower (10") rear wheel (the tires are 265s which i realize will be a bit stretched on an 11" rim). Any other reccomendations for winter prep is greatly appreciated
Last but not least, heres a pic of my other baby...an 89 Nissan Skyline gts-t:

Any tips or suggestions for a new porsche owner is always appreciated,
Great forum!!!

Congrats! $1100CAD is not even the cost for the clutch. This is a great deal. My local dealer charge $1600CAD parts + 15 hours labours for the clutch change. One thing i will suggest you to consider aftermarket clutch. I see where you come from and I'm sure you will mod. your TT. Do it once, OEM clutch is the only thing I've regret done to my TT.
