Best upgrade to the Stock Brakes for the Street ?
Best upgrade to the Stock Brakes for the Street ?
My brakes are not braking soon enough for me, and i'm thinking of moving to Stage 2 soon (520ish). Whats a good street setup ? I want to beable to brake sooner but still have the same drivability and feel as stock. Nothing extreme, just slightly better.
Braking is determined quite a bit not only by your brakes mechanism itself but by pads and TIRES. It all works as a system. If you're calipers/rotors/pads overpower your tires, all you get is a lot of ABS braking.
What pads and fluid do you recommend for the street ? Also besides stopping sooner, is anything else effected either negatively or positivley by a change in these products ie. pedal feel etc. ?
I just want to stop sooner and have less fade. I don't want to alter the pedal feel or drivabilty/harshness/smoothness to be impacted in any way. Thanks

Well, when I bought my car the brakes were already broken in with 8,000K on them. Now two months later they've gradually gotten weaker and weaker, as in it takes more pressure on the pedal to get the same results that it used to take with just a soft touch. The only thing I can figure out is that maybe I've been driving too aggressivley or the couple times I braked really hard must have taken a toll on the brakes. Sometimes when I break really hard and the road is uneven I hear a grinding/grating sound.
