Are prices on GT2's comming down?
GT2's have already traded below $90K for euro cars in the USA and for USA cars with high milage. I was offered a car two years ago with 29,000 miles for $85K, but I bought a car with 400 miles for a lot more. I hope you are right that they never go that low, but in todays world with a lot of choices, it is hard to argue that you would pay the same for a 40K mile GT2 as you would a low milage 2005 GT3 or even anything less than a substantial discount to a 997 GT3.
I would build in a good cushion if you don't want to take a big hit on resale. Right now everyone wants to pay $100K to $110k for even pristine low milage GT2's. Add 30k -35k in miles and how much would you take off of that?

As far as pricing goes I would not pay more that $70K for it, as I think it should get a small premium (maybe $10K) over a 996 TT with similar milage, which would likely be in the mid to high $50K range.
If you do buy the GT2 you will not regret it, but given the miles it has it will sold strictly on price when you go to sell it, so you need to take that into consideration.

Riddle me this, then:
I am getting an excellent deal on my friends heavily modded (Protomotive/S-Car-Go...this car has the absolute best) GT2: 100K w/ only 2800 miles. It was in one accident, but the guys at S-Car-Go say the damage was only superficial. The restoration is better than stock: The car is incredible, the best looking GT2 I have ever seen, and I am not exagerating. I trust my friend.
I plan on driving this car 3 days a week for about 8K a year for 5 years, mostly highway. Will it be worth 65K in 5 years?

I have been looking and find there are a lot for sale. I am supprised by the numbers. Most are priced 110k-120k with low miles. They don't seem to be selling them much and have sat longer than I would have thought. It seems to indicate that they are over priced.
For me I am looking for rite one. I am open to the mods if they are done rite. I hope to pay less that 100k.
I am also thinking that maybe a 996 2wd conversion without sunroof. That would leave lots of $$$$ for mods considering the current values.

I don't really think the release of the 997 GT2 is going to affect the 996 Gt2 market as much as many would think. The made something like 299 996 GT2's for the US. The demand will definately be greater than the supply.
Un-modified US GT-2s with reasonable miles will always do well going forward. Accident cars, even if superficial, modded cars that can't go back to stock with original parts and high-mileage cars will be more of a question mark. There will always be people after these cars but the original cars will depreciate less and then rebound faster & longer.
