Alot of work went into retrofitting gt3 cams into this head... custom cam and piston hold down tools had to be made. Also the O ring grooves to prevent the head from popping.
car is running on GT3 street software... No vario cam 8200 rpm

thanks,

I would have to ask Todd... we only had the head sent to us from germany....
Ist a gt3 RS head I believe...bit the race version ... Im not sure I have it somewhere in my email. It did come from a 2004 world cup challenge car.
Todd programmed the motronic with the GT3 street software. He even managed to write in PSM and ABS.. soemthing not standard on gt3s not gt2s...

It uses a 996tt ECU with GT3 program. It requires a boost controller, manual boost gauge and new ABS program. That is over simplifying it as the values all had to be re written

Markski,

I do not remember what heads you incorporated. If they cam from a Cup car then they are probably Cup heads. There are four types. The turbo heads have smaller ports and valve sizes are 32 and 35 mm. Then you have GT3 street, GT3 World Cup or Cup heads and then GT3R heads. I do not know the spec on the GT3 Street heads. The GT3 Cup and R heads have the same ports . The valves on the Cup heads are 35.5 and 41.0 mm while the R heads are 36.4 and 42.0 mm.

Judging from the pics Markski provided, it appears Todd used stock turbo pistons flycut to clear the valves. The turbo, GT3 street, GT3 Cup and GT3 R motors all have different pistons and rod lenghts. The wrist pins on the GT3's are narrower in diameter than the turbo wrist pins. Markski, do you know what rods (as in manufacturer were used.) The crank cound be either a turbo or GT3 crank. Do you know what was used?

Sorry about all the questions ............... if info isn't known, no biggie.

Or you can do a custom head and fit 38mm and 44mm Valves and flow 368cfm's .

You mean turbo heads ported to GT3 type specs and valved for 38's and 44's. Now Alex, you definitely have bigger valves than Markski ............. but Markski has a bigger stick.

Swaping the head most of been a big chalenge for clearence issue but the oversize valtrain certainely helps alot in the flow of the beast

Actually, the heads bolt right on. The big advantage of the GT3 heads is the GT3 cam housings and the GT3 intake manifolds. Markski used GT3 cam housings and turbo intake. The challenge with the heads is making sure your pistons have enough clearance and enough strength after you flycut them. That is if you use the stock pistons. The GT3 tappets are smaller and lighter and believe it or not depending on the type of cam being used (street, Cup, R) and year, they are all different (solid, hydralic, flat or radius toppped). Each one uses a different valve stem length. In addition Porsche made dimensional changes between some of the years.

Promotive's real coup is the ECU. No one to date has made a GT3 turbo motor with a GT3 cam work with the 996tt ECU. The turbo has 5 cam pointers, GT3 street 3 cam pointers, Cup and R one cam pointer. The different ECU's don't start and operate with different cams. This is what had us stumped for months. Todd is a real genius.
