How much off list for a 2004 Turbo?

Looks like I found an allocation for a 2004 turbo. It is at the dealer I used to purchase my current turbo. What should I shoot for regarding discount. Thanks

Lou

I paid MSRP for mine back in December. Dealer told me he had no more allocations and availability would be scarce. I believed him.....

I got $6,500 off a specced build in November. This is the best I have heard of.

Wow, $6500 is the most I have heard for an '04!

Ive been told that discounts on '04s were close to nil due to the limited production run of turbos.

Lou, why not just hunt for an extremely low mileage '03, since you are just trading for miles anyway?

I looked into that, but, ultimately decided against it. 1) I want to break in my own car, who knows what the previous owner did or did not do? 2) I looked at new 2003's, but, as an 03 it is automatically worth $6-7k less than an equal 04, so even though discounts are not near what they are on 03's, the increased value of the 2004 makes upo the difference. Besides if I decide to finance(balloon), residuals would be much higher adn rates much lower on a new 2004.

Hey Lou,

Let me throw a wrench into your plan.

Get a GT2. Since you don't drive the car in snow anyways, this is the car for you.

It's so great out of the factory, you don't really need to mod it at all. And this is coming from me of all people.

A stock GT2 will outperform all but the most modded Turbos on the track or twisties. You can get one with REALLY low mileage (still within breakin) for a bit more than what you would pay for an '04 Turbo with a decent amount of options!

Besides, you can't beat the BLING factor of a GT2. You'd be surprised at how many people even in So Cal stare, wave, or smile or do double takes at the car-- even more so than my blue Turbo.

Yeah, i know how great it looks. I mentioned in a previousl post, Shank's car looked like an entirely different car when next to mine. However, the Chicago streets are **** and it rains etc. I will definately consider it, sounds like a great idea.

An 04 costs more, and depreciates more over a given period of time, versus an 03. So how would an 04 cost you less than an 03?

I should clarify. I meant if I buy a new 2003 vs a new 2004. The 2004 since it is one model year newer, will always be worth more than a 2003. In other words a new 2004 is worth minimum of $6-7k more than a new 2003. Used, I agree, I would save the most. However, everyone is not meticulous and **** like I am about everything with the car. Break-in is very important to me. i like to know how the car was driven. i have always taken great care during breakin, however, I see just as many people run their cars hard right away. i do not want to take that chance. Believe it or not, I have seen turbos that are all beat, run down, never waxed, and poorly cared for. i do not want to be the guy getting one of those cars. I know how I am and find myself to be the exception rather than the rule when it comes to my cars and how I care for them.

Lou:

I have the same ****/meticulous nature as you (I watched them unload my new E55 and babysat it until they gave it to me. I trust no one!) The biggest difference is my inherent cheapness would not allow me to eat the depreciation so easily on another new one, unless of course you didn't get a new '03.
