The way the ECU controls the acuator is by applying pressure. Makes sense that is MUST be adjusted the same way.
I know how the ECU controls boost, but the nuts need to be set correctly. Are you saying that if the WG nuts back off the ECU can still control boost? Kevin

Of course not. But then the will not be set at 12 psi will they.

And to set them at 12 psi.... there may be a measurement on the rod one can use.... Two methods to arrive at the same conclusion. Kevin

You falsely assume that you can adjust the acuator by pressure (proper method) then measure it and apply the measurement to all other actuators.

This does not allow for manufacturing tolerances of the springs, rod length and rod bends.

Why would you not want to do it the proper way?

Hmmmm.... this is not advancing Bodybag's issue. Why when he called the manufacturer did they not tell him to use your method?

So EVO manufactured it? I can tell you not. They are just a reseller. I know where they source them from. I will not say on the public forum who that is. I can tell you the company that does manufature them. That same company is the one who told us to adjust them with pressure.

I give up

Madness...this is nothing more than an honest question. Are you saying that the people selling them do not know how to adjust them. I assume they are Garrett and if you have ties to the manufacturer...I believe you. It still doesnt change the fact that the distributor doesnt know how to adjust them. Maybe you could post the maufacturers posted adjustment method, since improper adjustment can cause a whole slew of problems. No harm intended. Kevin

Hey Kevin, I know what you are saying with nut adjustment, measurement etc BUT the precise way to adjust the wastegates are by applying air pressure and both adjustments of both gates will be the same. That is how Protomotive does it and also the factory races teams of days gone by. The nut measurements are "kinda close' but not super precise. I have Proto K24/18 and that`s the way we adjusted them precisely (with air pressure then you know for sure) And obviously this is easier before the turbos are installed but doable when on the car. Take it easy with that Zero clearance monster.

Thanks for the helpful info.... and the way it was presented. Kevin

I just got back from Todd's...
I do have plenty of experience with Kevins Actuators... and really the best way is to do it with a pressure system... watch the flap and set it to what ever recommended... This procedure is clumsy and u need special tools...

I did also notice that speed gallery and or others would preset the inner most nut so that u would not have to make adjustments... for those who are not advanced and or do not have the tools to do it with... so the tuners just say " set it to 30 mm or something like that. On another note... if u look in the porsche maual it states that u must use the pressure way to set up the actautors... just like Tom(k24madness) describes it...
I dont know anymore...

just my opinion....

Damn, that was obvious. I can't believe I didn't think of this to start with.

It's not like this is the first turbo I've ever mucked around with. I've used a pressure tester a dozen times to adjust the G-Valve setting on my GLHS's turbo and the G-Valve on my Duramax.

So... what pressure should I set them at? 12psi was mentioned, would that be a good starting point? I want to be able to maintain 1.1bar and have it spike 1.2.

Thanks for all of the debate guys!

So what's the tool to use for the pressure test?

It looks like a little grease gun, except it can produce vacuum or pressure instead. Mine has a small gauge on top to show you what the pressure is.
