2003 X50 Dyno before/after GIAC

I spent along time looking for a new Turbo. I found a 5000 MIle Blk/Blk X50 in Northern NY. I closed the deal on the phone and made plans to go pick it up. The roads are full of sand and salt in NY. I needed to drive to VT to get a trailer. I left CT at 5am with a Powesrtroke Excursion. I had to go to Island Pond VT and pick up my father in laws enclosed car trailer. That was 300 miles. Hooked up and left there at 11am. Had to drive another 200 miles across VT into NY arrived at the owners house at 4pm. The car was perfect. I did the paperwork and loaded up the car. I left the canadian border at 4:30. I arrived back in CT at 11:30 pm. 900 miles in a day. I woke up the next day and took the car out. It realy ran great. I wanted a little more I wanted to flash the car and put the Porsche short shifter in it. I had heard good things about a place called The Shop in Norwalk, CT. I called Jimmy and I was very comfortable after talking with him. I made a appt to bring the car in to have a GIAC flash done, change the Diverter valves, Change the oil, change the spark plugs and intall the Porsche short shifter. He has a dyno there and I wanted to dyno the car before and after the flash. I got there and he put the car on the dyno. It was putting out around .8 bar stock. It made 375 HP at the wheels. I thought that was a good # for a stock X50. (approx 450 HP at the flywheel. He gave me a loaner and I left the car to have the work done. I came back at the end of the day and they where just finishing dynoing it. Everyone had smiles on there faces. The car made 440 HP at the wheels at 1 bar. That was a great #. I did not want to mess with the intake or the exhaust. We took the car out for a ride. Wow what a diffrence. The Porsche short shifter is amazing. The car feels much more responsive. I would recomend the GIAC flash to everyone. The short shifter is also a must. If you live in the CT/NY area give Jimmy at The Shop in Norwalk, CT. a call. His # is 203 847-5791. He was great to work with and is very knolegable. He gave me a great deal on the package. I love my Turbo. These changes have really brought the car to the next level.

based on his numbers of 375 to the wheels, that's about 16-17 drivetrain loss.

If anybody is debating whether to FLASH GIAC.....

I just flashed mine Friday at Autodynamica in Houston- replaced the diverter valves also - drove it to Austin Texas over the weekend- about 180 miles from Houston, The car flat out moves at 1.0 Bar. I feel the flash is most effective and noticable in the power band range on the highway, third to fifth gear. It absolutely hauls A**. Several cars - Corvette, Cobra on the way to Austin were in the mood to offer themselves as my testing criteria - It got out of hand and before I knew it, my radar went off and went crazy coming around a turn at 110 mph - the vette's following in my rear view mirror - I am glad he wasnt too close because I hit my brakes full tilt and slowed down to 75 in about 1 second.... My hands are now sweaty and the guy in the vette, his face is now white ..... The cop was going the opposite way and gave me a look but did not turn around....

Just remember when you Flash your car, its not a metter if you are going to get a ticket, its now a now a matter of how many tickets can you avoid...

Fantastic numbers! What does everyone think of the Tubi exhaust for the X50 versus Europipe?

Thanks,

Congrats and have fun..
Add the exhaust plus wastegates and you may get 530rwhp on the Dynojet like I did.

I dont know many people with Tubi on their Porsches'... I wish someone out there can shed some light on the Tubi for a 996 TT or X50... I am in the market for an aftermaket one and know how popular these Tubi are with Ferrari and LAmbo. The Tubi sounds great on these cars.. Tubi is pricey but worth in my opinion if it captures the right sound and performance
