Methanol injection anyone?

Hi guys, was wondering if any tuners use methanol or H2o injection? I am using it on my other car and it works great. With it you can run tons of boost/timing on pump gas. I was able to get 475whp out of a 2 liter.Anyone running this on there car?

i wish more guys would demand this. i'd love to have it on my gt700. afaik, it's not easy to adjust w/ the ECU. however, i wish a solution would be produced.

esemes is infamous around these parts
i had it on my sti........

you need to really dial down the injectors (if running meth) and have a much greater timing advance (and boost) potential....

i was seeing zero knock and the intake was actually cold after a full pull..

AFAIK, there arent alot of porsche's running this....

ese

ps- i dont know the long-term effects of meth on internals (but changed oil very often anyway)....

i had my progressive system custom built and installed by www.alkycontrol.com in st. pete... way top notch components and quality (overkill, but essential in worry-free operation)

Craig took the methanol/water off his 996tt and added N20. It definately works.
Which system are you running? Aquamist and Snow are the two major players.

I am with you. I remember a couple of years ago or more when GIAC experimented with this but the ECU, throttle body, boost pressure sensors all freaked out no matter where the placement was. It was not easily integrated I believe that 9ff had something like the kit James and I tried on our car a year or so ago. We got it sort of working but "sort of" wasn't good enough so we scrapped it

I am running the coolingmist kit (150psi black pump) controlled by an AEM EMS on a SR20DET motor. It works great as I am able to run 25-26 psi on 91 octane with 0 knock. My tuner said he feels like I can run up to 30 psi but the motor still retains a stock bottom end. The meth starts kicking in via the AEM at 10+ psi. Methanol is very cheap too, much less than running race gas. I would think that you would need an aftermarket ECU to run it however.

Are we talking about (2) different things?

methanol injection into the combustion chamber?

nitrous: but is "injected" onto the intercoolers ala; Sharkey, DMK, Craig ??

please verify,
thanks,
Marty

Methanol is injected into the engine. I have my nozzle a few inches before my throttle body. People also have direct port systems (individual nozzles into each cylinder for equal distribution.

that is what I thought, and only a few have tried nitrous injection, so for what was discussed above, Nitrous was used for cooling intercoolers only. This would be a typical project for the "mad professor" to solve.

I use a water methanol injection kit on my blown 454 suburban. Running at the edge seems to be 11 PSI & 28' timing with 92 octane.

Eddie ran with alcohol injection with the drag car he previously built that was stolen.

I believe the car put down 1100rwhp when it was first dyno'ed, then it was stolen.

yes, but i'm guessing eddie wasn't using the stock ecu. w/ a stand-alone, you can do whatever you want.

if i had meth injection on my 996tt, i'd be in heaven... i could fuel up on 91 all day long, inject the meth, and get about 110 octane w/ intense cooling of the intake charge.
