...since it is already out of warranty? I'm looking at an 01 TT with low miles in great shape, but no warranty at all scares me.

Yes you can.. i think it's in the $2000 range, of course it has to be a Pcar dealer. Or ou can buy extended warranty that Mercury insurance offers..
You can do a search i think i posted the rates

Thanks. The CPO is the only way for me to go as I'm up in Canada and the 3rd party warranties are not transferable cross border. Does the CPO need to be done in my name or does it reside with the vehicle.

I don't think so...

If I recall, to get a CPO your car has to be within a certain time limit from the original "In-Service" date, I think 4 years is the max.

You can buy an extended warranty though, it just won't be a factory warranty.

nope youre talking about the 6yr /100K warranty.. if youre warranty is expired you get 2yr/100k miles.. if it;s not expired you get 6yr/100K..

I'm a little confused...so you can buy an 01 TT from, say, Ebay, then take it to your local dealer and have them certify it?

I bought my 01 996 with 50K miles from my coworker.. and Carlsen Porsche certified it.. I dont see a difference with buying in ebay,, unless carfax shows something really bad.. the only difference is I did the paperworks at the Porsche dealer.. depends on your connections everything is possible

The car I have been looking at is third-party. The owner called the local P dealer to ask about CPO and they said no-dice....this is P's way of exerting some influence on the secondary mkt. The funny thing is that if he traded the car in to the P dealer, I'm sure they would CPO it.

My 01 996 I bought it cheap from my coworker, i had Porsche do the paperworks, i paid around $2600 including cpo..depends how good the dealership is but then again, the 6speed bay area community bought so much cars from there I dont think it even matters..LOL

Tell him to talk to someone higher up, maybe he can split you the cost to do the paperwork then you can pay for the CPO

Same here. I know they won't do it with M3's.
