2.5 or 3" exhaust piping for 600HP

I am planning to do a custom exhaust like Craigs (no cats, w/resonators). My goal in a few months is to have the K24/18G Protomotive package and be pushing a little over 600hp. My thoughts are that 2.5" piping will be fine at this point? Am I correct or will going to 3" be beneficial? The outlets of the stock turbo are 3".

Will there be a big sound difference between 2.5" and 3"? I noticed most all aftermarket systems are 2.5"

The bigger the better on a Turbo car. Yo may lose a bit of pre-turbo torque, but will breather much better under boost.

My Remus Exhaust comes with 3.15" piping (80mm) in Euro Spec.

I have 3 inch piping......
this will not make a whole lot of difference.... make sure ur neighbors are cool with loud exhaust.... mine almost shot me...
what will make a difference is porting ur stock exhaust....
Also, get a clutch....

If 600 hp is your goal, the 2.5 will not be a restriction. It will be more than enough.

A 3.6 litre engine @ 1bar is breathing roughly 440 cubic inches of air per cycle. There is not a hot rodder around that would suggest putting 2.5" exhaust on a 440ci engine spinning 6500-700rpm.

On a turbo motor, post turbo exhaust flow is even more critical than on an NA motor. In the lower rpm range the 2.5" pipes will be enough, but once you start spinning it up the 3" pipes will be a payoff.

If you're going to be a bear... be a GRIZZLY!!!

Why not go straight to 3 in. Yes, it is a bit more work to construct the exhaust, but then you will have ample flow to grow into.

Beware, the sound your exhaust will produce is not for the faint of heart.

Thats the problem is that I dont think my neighbors will like me anymore if I do go the 3" route. I would think the 2.5" would be a little quieter? I am also going to make some 3" straight pipes for track days. When I get everything completed I will dyno the differences.

LOL if that is your reasoning for not going 3" then dont worry about it. The 1/2 inch wont make the exhaust that much quieter, a straight through exhaust will be LOUD AS HELL no matter how you look at it, 2.5 or 3" doesnt matter!

I have one for sale just like Craig's and built in the same shop. Why don't you just buy mine?

I have seen your car at Lucent a few times and the exhaust is really nicely fabricated. But not for the faint of heart!
