Interior Upgrade Help

Can anyone help with some interior upgrades? I bought silver side vents for my 996 TT and have been able to change out the passenger side one but I am having trouble with the driver's side. I need to remove the headlight switch to access one of the Torx screws to remove the vent but can't figure out how to do it. Can anyone help? How do you get the headlight switch out to access that screw?

If you pull the switch out like to turn it on look under it. There is a brass looking slot. Push this in with a small screwdriver. The **** will pop out. Once this is done pull the inner ring with the insignias on them out. Once that is out you can access the screw andthe nut that holds the switch in. I am getting ready to run to dinner. If you still need when I get back I can take a pic for you and post it.

Thanks, I got the part in. Now I need to figure out the instrument surround and the three small straight pieces across the bottom.

instrument surround is easily done. pull the hazzard button off then the switch. on the other side is that small vent piece which also pulls off. after removing both torx screws the whole cluster pops out. go to renntech.org for easy instructions. that place rocks. and good luck. did the job a couple of weeks ago and it was really easy. good luck.

One of our local 2003 Boxster owners switched the 3 trim pieces. He was able to get to all the screws that hold them in place and remove them in one piece. No breaking them out or using a knife or soldering iron. But you have to remove your steering wheel and glove box in order to have access to the screws. Jeff

Since you have a glovebox you can get to all the screws. You need to remove the glovebox, but they are accessible.
