Window Tinting? (once again)
Window Tinting? (once again)
I know it has been covered a lot before (I did read the archives!)
My question is, can it be made to look really great? I have seen so many cars that have windows that are wrinkled or with scratches, etc.
Is this just a question of the quality of the installation and installer or is this just kind of a normal thing for tinting? Does it "fall off" after awhile?
Can it be removed and show no signs of damage to the car?
Thanks
Chuck

The best films are Madico, Johnson, Sungard and 3M.
Be weary of shops that use computer cut tinting machines. Not only are they a rip off, but the software in most cases will not account for frameless windows and the extra 1/2inch-1inch extra film that will be needed, etc.
I made the mistake of going to someone who was relatively cheap and didnt have too many years of experience. After the 4th time, I decided to get it completely redone from a seasoned veteran. The difference was day and night.
Yes, tint can be made to look really great. The installer is the biggest factor in a quality of any tint job. The film can be removed without causing damage to the car. As tint is a plastic film over the windows, it can get scratched and damaged. Wrinkles and bubbles are more of an installation issue.
All three of my cars have window tint, and I'm never going to stop tinting my cars. As others have said, it totally relies on the installer. I've never had any problems with mine, just take it to a good shop with a good reputation and you won't have any problems.
Film quality is also important, make sure they use a good film and make sure the place has been in business sometime, so if you do run into a problem they will still be around to handle it.
