failure indicator light?

the weather was perfect so I decided to take the p-car out for some fun after about an hour of hard driving I heard this chim sound ,so i looked to see what it was and on the dashboard there was a failure indicator light, a quick glance at my gauges and I noticed oil pressure was low for a split second and then jumped right back up at normal operating oil pressure range. so i pulled over checked every thing over (no leaks, oil level was good, no strange noises) started the car up and no more indicator light. all seems well car feels fine. should i be concerned? going to setup a service date with porsche and have them look at it. anyway if any of you have expierenced anything simular please let me know.

Thanks
Adrian

Could be that you starved your engine of oil if you were driving it hard.
Glad to hear you got pressure again, wouldnt want that level to be at zero.
Get it checked out if it happens again, could be a faulty sending unit/wire/connector.

Adrian,

Did you ever figure out what the cause was? I just had this happen on my 03 Turbo. Thanks for your help!

I had it checked by the dealer they could not find anything wrong. have only seen the light one more time since. but don't take any chances have your service tech take a look at it. who knows maybe he's a better tech than the one i got? maybe he will discover the problem.

I had this happen to me last year when I first got my car. Went to dealer and they said it was the gauge that was going bad so they gave me a whole new cluster under warranty. A few months ago it started doing it again but now I'm out of warranty so I haven't had it checked again. It only happens once in a blue moon and for a split second so I'm not worried about it. If you have warranty definitely take it to dealer.... it can't hurt.
