I have the Conti SportContact2 tires with about 6k miles on them. The rears are worn and need to be replaced, but the fronts still have plenty of tread on them. I could replace the rears with the Conti's and keep the fronts, or go with 4 new brand tires. The Kumho's are least expensive, but not "N" rated -- but I could get a new set of 4 for almost the same price as just rear Conti's. Does anyone have any experience with the Kumho's?

Stay far away from Kumho!!!!!! Had some and got rid of them as soon as I could. The sidewalls are way to stiff and the rubber is too hard also for Porsche's suspension system. Look for a tread wear of 180 or less. The Ks are around 320 or something. Had way too much vibration at speed and they flat spot after a day or two parked. Tires are not recommended for cold temps and not that good in the rain either. I would recommend just getting two new Conties and be done with it.

replace the rear conti's with a new set and then when the front and rears need replaced go with the MPS2's. Best street tire IMO.
Rears always wear twice as fast as fronts

Tom is correct, I have the same Conti's and use 2 sets of rears to 1 set of fronts. I know many recommend the PS2, and yes they are fantastic tires, but I dont think I can justify the added expense for street use. When I track, I have MPSC's on another set of rims. For just everyday use, I am happy with the Conti's. Kevin

I agree with what everyone said. From a Dealership point of view, I sell Conti's more often than I do MPS2's. And I will always offer an upgrade to the MPS2's, just because I would rather have a customer be satisfied with their tires, than have someone keep coming back having to replace them.

I've found that with the contis its more like 3 to 1. They have so little rubber on the inside edge to start with, they wear out in no time. My fronts still look brand new, but I think Im just going to swap all four to MPS2's.

You SURE you're taking about Kumhos I've found just the opposite compared to the Pirellis I had previously (still have Pirellis on the front). The Kumho is a very SOFT tire in all respects. In fact the sidewall is soft to the point that I wouldn't recommend they be used at the track but are fine for the street.

I do alot of miles on Arabelle (27,000 in 17 months) so I wanted to go on the cheap. I've found the Kumhos to be OK for my use, and just bought a set of hollow spoke wheels (I have solids now) with a new set of Kumhos mounted.

I've found they are quite acceptable in the rain, don't know about the cold (live in Houston Tx). Low noise compared to the Pirellis, since they are soft they haven't worn as well as I hoped (need to swap after 14k miles....but like a bonehead I didn't rotate them at all. In the future I'll do it every 5k miles).

Good value for the money since you can buy a set of four for not much more than the cost of ONE PS2 rear
