prubin is infamous around these parts
The car has basically the same program as Stephen's Speed Yellow turbo.
http://www.imagineauto.com/imaginethat.pdf
Plus the big brakes, Carrillo rods, and a custom new Sachs clutch. The custom clutch feels just like a stock turbo, and it handles the car's 800hp.

And thanks, Phoenix for finding my previous threads!

Jags, there plenty of speculation that this kit will trump Gt 700 easily,
but the chickens haven't hatched yet to prove it , but keep in mind
it's like the stock market, some stocks go up some come down! lets see
the final numbers performance & $$$$, to compare apples to apples..

No one suggested you dump your evo intake . Is that what you define as "worth it"? Another company's upgrade that competes with your car's parts does not have to prove itself better than yours in order to be "worth it".

This intake is amazing, everything from the carbon fiber craftsmanship to the increased amount of airflow is absolutely "worth it" to those who are looking for an airbox upgrade.

I'm sorry, let me rephrase my question, I was asking why I should dump my EVO INTAKE, not the kit, for the Sportec intake! I can see why you thought I was asking something else.

Jags...I had the V-flow and with my set-up and at altitude I kept blowing MAFs. Recognize that the V-flow did not add any air. The air intake was the same size as stock. The extra intake scoop on the V-flow was not connected to any additional cold air intake....it sealed to the bracket which is solid. The Intake I have now has almost double the amount of air intake since I cut open the bracket and added the additional scoop. As Prubin (a fellow Boulderite) said, at this altitude we need all the air we can get.

Ben,

I am not saying that anyone suggested I dump my evo intake. Those are my WORDS! I trying to decide for myself if I should change out my existing intake for another if it will add any benifit: hence WORTH IT to me!

So yes for me to switch airboxes it must give me a gain somewhere for it to be worth it for me

Jag

When ever a new product hits the market I am always looking to see if I should change what I have, but to make the decision one must see soem type of gain inorder to make the change(s).

Jag,
I'm assuming that since you're not having the MAF problems that Wross had, since you're already got an upgraded intake, the Sportec unit would be more of a bling upgrade for you than a performance upgrade

It looks that way right now Ben. I guess I'll wait to see if anyone else with a gt700 kit changes their evo intake for the sportec and see the results before making this change. But no doubt it looks stellar

Jags, the V flow is a mod that, how can I say it, doesn't agree with all
cars , I had one & blew two MAFS! but at the begining, it was the best
because I had no issues! If your car is happy then your happy. It just
doesn't work for everybody!! Keep in mind that the CF intake might
still blow a MAF!! It is intended to work as part of a kit, that has the larger
MAF solution.

I guess I must be the lucky one as I have not seen blown MAFs yet.

I was under the impression Kevin was selling 2 versions of his CF dual snorkel intake.
  1. OEM MAF tube (will fit any OEM dimensioned MAF tube)
  2. UMW custom MAF tube (designed for his bigger kits only)

Lightbulb EVO intake modification!

Hmmm...there's no reason why the bracket can't be modified to allow additional airflow to the EVO filter. The filter side of the EVO box seals tight against the bracket. I'm going to look into cutting a hole in the bracket above the filter.

If this works I can finally say I have contributed something to the power craving 996TT community. Maybe I'll add it to my sig and be famous...

That is a good point. Only why wouldn't EVO do this? After all they spend a fair amount of time doing R&D. Also I don't think it will be a clean seal and cut for the bracket. But it's your car..give it a try.
