02 996 TT HP upgrades

Hello everyone!
Just wanted to introduce myself. I currently have an 02 S2000, but I now want to get a 01-02 TT very soon. I found a good deal on a tip. Usually I drive manual, but I'll be commuting alot all around here in So Cal. and think a tip would be best for me at this point.
I'm a really a newbie in these matters. I was looking for modest performance/hp recommendations that would "compensate" for the fact the car is a tiptronic.
Thanks again for your help

Get an ECU flash and the gearing of the auto is right at home. I ran an 11.9 with only a chip and exhaust at the 1/4 strip. Trust me the tip is not slow. Some like the involvement of the 6 speed and I agree it is perhaps more fun at times. I can also tell you that the tip is very easy to be fast in even at some of the more difficulet road courses. Either way buy the best example you can find and get what you want. You are spending too much to settle. Spend the cash and ENJOY IT!

ECU flash, diverter valves, and exhaust. That will get you started and give you the most hp for the buck!

I agree with Silver, ecu flash and exhaust will be your bang for the buck upgrades. They will make a big improvement. I have a tip. (monkeytronic as some call it) with that and a little more +++ and they are alot of fun. Enjoy!

I'm not a fan of the tips as I LOVE the interaction with the manual. I did, however, get to ride in a tip at sebring last year with a former pro driver. Man, could we move it around that courese like it was nothin'!!! Made me appreciate the tip in a whole different light!

Having a tip is not all bad. I have a '01 TT with tip. The tip does not have the time consuming 1-2 shift. I recommend the Evo stage I or II. I just had the stage II installed on my tip and the car pulls like crazy. It may be as fast in the 1/4 as my '07 Z06. Hope that helps.

psyfi...i came off of a 04 s2k...fun and relatively cheap compared to my 996tt! agree with the everyone so far...reflash, dv, exhaust and maybe a high flo filter.

Take your time to find the "right" one...lots out there to choose from.

GL finding one...the search is fun in and by itself

Cool Another fellow S owner..or should I say ex. Actually it is kind of fun looking for the right car.

But I'm just so use to manual that I'm finalizing a deal on one. But I'll take these performance upgrade tips anyway
