What do you do for bad gas?
As the title says. I had my car out for the first time in 2 months...it was running great. I stopped and got some gas (100 octane) about 10 miles later I come to a light and she stalls. At first she starts, but dies within seconds. Had to tow her. So what do you do about bad gas (please keep it serious)? TIA
I don't think gas will ever go OFF!
I'm no expert on this, but from the info I have read, it says you can start losing octane levels, i.e. 100 octane after a while would drop to 99 and so on! I have had motocross bikes for years and sit from end of season to start 6months + and they have no issues!

yep, you need to find the problem first. Don't assume it's bad
gas, but if it is due to water in the gas, the usual treatment is
to add alchohol, which allows water and gas to mix, and then run
it till it empties out. Get an expert to help.

Rob, The last time Porsche replaced the fuel pump I was unaware of any symptoms. The reason they had the car was due to the alarm system control unit went bad and they replaced it. I guess when they then started it the fuel pump went. My car has had a number of parts replaced under warranty...very poor reliability unfortunately.
I had a bad back pressure valve in the fuel tank (integrated on the fuelpump)
The symptoms is that after stopping the car it will be very hard to start more then 10mins after and lestt then 1,5h after the stop.
This is bacause the fuel in the fuelline from tank to regulator will vaporace when there aint any pressure in the line
I think it is possible to just change the valve for around 50Euro.
It's quite easy to see if the pump is broken, just loose the screws ontop of the tank in the trunk and loose the fuel line from the tank after that put some rag over the holes and turn the ignitionkey to the step where fuelpump starts for 1sek, after that you can see if the pump have delivered some fuel into the rag

wross996TT,
Any mods to your fuel tank/evap valve? If not, since your car is an 04, there is a chance (if your warranty has not already been voided) that it your dealer can warranty it. Let me know what happens.

I am far from being an expert on this, but years ago I had a similar problem with a motorcycle that would start up and run for a few moments then die and not start again.
I traced the problem back to a clog in vented fuel cap so the vent did not work properly. The high revving engine sucked the fuel out of the tank until the vacuum became too strong. The solution was to drill small holes in the gas cap to allow it to beter vent under hard acceleration.
Like I said, this might have no bearing on your issues, but thought I'd toss it out. Good luck either way.
