Is a 997S faster than a stock 996TT?
I think on straight line the Turbo is the one to beat...
on a curvy road the 997S might be able to run with Turbo because many factors enter this type of situation... driver, lag, PASM, etc...
of course all this at sea level because here in Puebla at 2500 meter altitude nothing touches a Turbo, not even an F430...
let us know your findings...

When the 997 S came out I saw a review of a 3.9 0-60 dont know if thats accurate. But a 996 TT is around 4.0 0-60 so its a litle edge there over the Carrera S. But the TT qtr mile is prob 12 sec @ around almost 117 where the Carrera S would prob be 12 @ 109. Either way 2 awesome cars. But the TT is a beast and would LOVE too see a vid of this. Come on guys GIT R DONE

The 997s ran the 'ring in 7:59, 7:52 with Walter Rohrl in '05 as I recall. The TT was more like 8:05. The TT has more hp, but the S did run the 'ring faster, of course it's an 8 mile track with a lot of variations but it's the one standard people seem to rely upon.

The only place where the 997 would stand a chance is on a smaller, twisty circuit. Remember the Ring has no hairpins, power and torque rules
Best Motoring had a nice video segment on this. In the 1/4 mile (400 m) the 911 TT was substantially faster than the Carrera S. The TT was in the 12.3's, the Carrera S was in the 12.8's. This was from a non launch start (did not want to damage the trannies). If the TT had a chance to use the AWD traction I think the difference would have been even worse.

Below is a list of cars tested on the Nürburgring by Sport Auto magazine. Sport Auto is considered the #1 source in the world for accurate Nurburgring times.
