I want to get some new wheels, but definitely sticking with 18s. What is the widest tires I can run without having to mess with rolling the fenders, etc.? I'm pretty sure something wider than 225 on the front will yield at least slightly better braking and handling, no? Can anyone recommend the best setup?

I would think you should be able to get a 315 (rear) and 245 (front) without too much hassle. Should keep everything balanced out too....

I took the idea from Chad and am running 315 rears and 265 fronts. Works out fine.

John, are you saying that you can fit 265s up front with no rubbing or any modifications whatsoever?

Looking at the clearance I would think you would, at the very least, get rubbing when making a hard turn or that the tire would stick out from the fenderwell...

Had to roll the fender edge...that is all.

There is a very tight fit (a very little harmless rubbing) on the plastic inner fender liner directly in front of the front tires. Rubs only when wheel is turned in alot. Tires do not stick out beyond the fenders. Have to run small spacers all the way around to clear suspension parts.

I really do not recall the offset, but I do not think Fikse offers small incremental changes in offset. The thicker spacers are around 1/8 inch, so I do not feel that they are going to cause any problems. I got the spacers from Rob King at Scargo and they are made to retain the hubcentric centering system.

If it sounds like yours are barely rubbing I wonder if a 255/35/18 and 315/30/18 would be the optimal combo for maximum tread without rubbing or modification required. In addition, the overall tire height would be almost identical to stock.

cjv heat treated the inner fender liner to avoid rubbing. The 265s fit perfectly now.
