Thumbs up

Interstate makes a battery that is 5lbs-8lbs lighter than the Optima.
And it won't lighten you wallet. $78.00 75month warranty
Optima $135.00-$140.00....I was shopping like you, as my
battery died as well...when I found the Interstate.(24.8lbs)
Interstate is a very respected battery co.

Is either the Interstate or the Optima a direct replacement? I went to the Optima site and they do not list a OEM fit for the car.

Surely someoone has replaced the battery with direct fit

If you want a standard replacement, a group 48 battery is a direct fit, and slightly shorter end to end. It bolts down in the tray like normal. Any auto parts store battery will do, they are all made by the same manufacturer more or less, just relabled. We use interstate the most.

Just don't replace it with a Porsche battery

Doc,

Thanks for the info. I'm off to see the Interstate man because I would much prefer to avoid the Porsche battery.

Thanks

My interstate battery was garbage. Brand new and it didnt work for **** for my porsche. Use the optima. No more old school alarm issues and car starting issues like before. I use the yellow top. Interstate truck has them also. Just bolt it directly to the black plate under the stock battery. IMO

Don't really understand..care to expand on this?
Are they too heavy and or just don't last?

Thank you!

From what I hear and read the the OEM batteries just don't last. Our P cars drain them at a very good rate and most P car owners don't use the p car as a daily driver. (lots of drain less charging). The Optima batteries are H/D and work like trolling motor batteries; they can discharge and charge many many times and keep on working. Some people opt for a standard Interstate or other and plug into a Battery Tender to keep the battery at full charge. To sum it up: I think you would pay more for the Porsche batteryand IMO get average performance. The standard other group 48's Interstate / Sears are as good and cost less. The Optima cost more but will work better and last longer.
