Question on Clutch Pressure Accumulator

My clutch pressure accumulator is going bad, clutch pedal is stiff when the car is cold. The dealer, the SA, said this would be fine if I waited until I got some work done later. Not too sure if I trust the SA.

My question- Will not replacing the clutch accumulator cause any other damage? And is there anything else I should have checked when I do get it fixed? The Clutch and transmission are fine.

I have been debating on some mods, and was wondering if I could wait and do it all at the same time.

It won't hurt anything. It will make for a heavier pedal. I took mine off years ago.

I have the same issue. Any idea on the time and cost to replace the accumulator? How much in parts and labor?

Thanks,
Adam

I forget the exact cost (can check at home), but I know it was *under* $400.. I think $350?

Great. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. Was the $350 for parts and labor? If so, that's a no brainer. I'll get it fixed ASAP.

Yes, parts and labor. I'm fairly certain $350 was it.

One reason I did not have mine changed at the dealer, they quoted me over $1000. Said it was a pain to get to. I thought that was a little steep. I plan on calling around to some local independents to see what they charge.

Do you have the part numbers needed for the job? I can buy the parts from one of the vendors on the right and have my local shop do the install.

Thanks again,
Adam

All,

http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...howtopic=12591

Should be immensely helpful. If you are not a Renntech member, they link to this part (and use the expression "max $300" [P&L]):
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...Tclutc_pg5.htm
$127

The Pelican page says 996-314-166-00-M270 but please, PLEASE keep in mind the receipt for the work I had done at a dealer is at home. I will not be home until tomorrow, but can check it then for you if you like.

Note that the Pelican Part # I gave is listed as "Corteco Brand"
