Remember guys, we had a very strong headwind that day and we were using Driftboxes. The winning Vipers 4.6 could have been a 4.4 w/ better conditions. And he was running about 1100 hp to the wheels, I believe.
However, that is why I like actual competitions: Everyone has to face the same elements.
Nonetheless, if Marks car were geared properly (say maybe hitting 130 in 4th gear at say 7.7K RPM's) he should get close to the mid 4's.
What would be awesome is to have a 6 cylinder sub 4 liter category. Marks car would rule.

like renntechv12, i think the porsche's gearing is made for this competition. in an old Supraforums post when this event was announced, the Supra guys thought they would destroy everyone. if VR and Markski's numbers are accurate, it shows that the 996tt can compete (and win.) i know from my own experience that the 996tt is faster after 100mph when comparing 2 equal cars.
sounds like a fun time though - still have a soft spot for the supras

As with anything, using the same equipment is a must. Atmospheric and weather conditions also change things. I can't wait to see what Markski can run in an ideal setting. I think a Supra can hit a mid 3 personally with an ideal setup and a little N20. I guess we will have to find out.
Personally I think street racing is a stupid idea. Dangerous for all involved and also for bystanders in some conditions. There's no safe way to street race.
Take it to a race track (of whatever flavour takes your facny) where there are safety measures and where eveyone else involved has accepted the risks.

There is NO safe way to street race, you can have as many Motorola walkie talkies as you like. No guard rails, no safety safari car, no ambulances standing by, no rollcages, harnesses, fire supression, emergency airlift arrangements ... you are kidding yourself.
