Day 3: Supra Nats and the 60-130
Just got home from day 3 at the Supra nationals and it was an excellent affair.
The 60 to 130 event was a success with many high hp entries. There were 3 classes;street tire, drag radials and unlimited. My class (street tire) was won by Nick (a great guy and driver...the third fastest car on the track day) and his Supra who ran a 6.6. I took second with a 7.7. All runs were recorded by a driftbox.
The drag radial class was won by a Viper at 4.8 and I believe and there was another Viper and a Supra close behind. The Unlimited class was won by a monster Viper who ran in 4.6 (!!!).
We ran on a 1/4 mile track and there was not enough room for a brake/boost strategy. I built up speed to about 50 in 3rd, matted it and shifted to 4th by 7K RPM's.
Overall, I think that the 60-130 competition should catch on since it is the closest to street racing, and of course none of us want to break the law.

Scott,
I think the cars running 4.8/4.9 had around 1000-1200.
I am pretty sure the 4.6 Viper was a 1400 hp monster.
If Mark changed his gearing he should do a 4.9.
But then I don't know if the other cars gearing was ideal or not. What I do know is that the 60-130 event should become a VERY popular type of competition. It is very exciting, takes some skill and strategy/ is less hard on cars than the 1/4 mile, is more similar to the actual conditions most of run into, and rewards power.

Congrats Sean.
I want to get a hold of one sometime and test my brothers car. Big HP isn't needed to win
With 821rwhp my car went 0-124.7 in 5.7 sec with 3100lbs.. Matt's car is 3150 with 727rwhp and a 6spd..
