Thank You! I appreciate the respect.
The tilt is fantastic and it works well.

Wow! This is something. I get more response to a thread with a
scolding than an actual interest in a new idea. Silly me, I actually
thought someone might find the tilt useful and innovative. If some of
the people who PM'd me would have wriiten their comments on the thread
it may have kept the thread out of the dumper. To quote a member:
"3 things were accomplished with the tilt" Removal of the air bag,
Allowing seat to be stationary & acheiving the use of a tilt wheel
that is strong and attractive.

Great setup if it please you. I don't know if the car is street legal (officially plated) but where I live, intentionally removing the airbag from a car that came equipped with an airbag from factory is considered illegal an even criminal if someone gets injured. Insurance will not pay if something happens. .. Unless there is an airbag in the tiny middle section

Out of curiosity, why not use a removable steering wheel?

Thanks MZ that is a good point. I have worked closely with my local
Porsche dealer tech. With the 2 ohm resistor only the steering wheel airbag
is disabled. With the 4 point harnesses used on the street... I would think the
safety concern would be minimal if not improved. As far as local legalities
The removal of the steering wheel air bag would get the least attention.
ie exhaust db's and occasional speed burts. Also with liability concerns,
since the passenger air bag is functional the harnesses only adds safety.
I wonder what lawyers might think about performance mods in excess of 600hp? Thanks again for your response, this is the initial response I could
have only hoped for.

I considered the removal steering wheel option, This is what instigated
the development of the tilt option. First, I would not have to keep up with
with the removed steering wheel. Even though this would be a great theft deterrant if the wheel were in the trunk.

Silvershark,

Great mod, I agree with you in loosing the airbag. I hate them. I appreciate the info on the 2ohm resistor too. Worked perfectly.

Looks awesome, very nice device.

It's gotta be fun to flip it horizontally and go bus-driver style.

Ohhhh, the wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round...

Yeah, or if you're morbidly obese or just want your chest crushed by a steering wheel in a crash...

Just kidding just kidding! I hadn't seen any insults hurled for awhile and was getting bored.

Nice mod.

I like the idea a lot, I didnt undstand why porsche's dont have a tilt wheel to begin with, my 89 civic had one! All people prefer different driving positions. I think it is safe to say that a 5'2" guy and a 6' 3" guy are going to want their wheel at different heights, or am I wrong?

Thanks for sharing your idea.

I always thought that the steering wheel was at a pretty good position/height and the only fault I could see is that it was not thick enough. My personal opinion is that the seating angle/height especially the GT3 Race Seats was just not that great. If your over 6ft I think the driving position wouldn't be ideal, you definately sit a bit high!

I actually used that comment as well.
I have the telescopic section all the way out to allow the wheel to go parallel to the ground. I did this to show the extreme tilt for the pic.
The hub adapter and tilt unit give the telescoping section about 3" more,
this allowed a pefect elbow angle for me. Before my arms were to straight
with the seat set for proper leg position.
