So is there are fix from Evo or should I go back to stock intake? Is there an alternative proven MAF besides OEM?
Thanks for the help guys!

I can pop a MAF in under 5 mins using the VFlow - I have 6 dead MAFs in the garage
. I would suggest putting the stock intake back in with a K&N filter until you get a fix. That's what I have done and haven't blown a MAF.

My understanding is that the Boxster MAF is definitely more durable and can take the abuse. How about a program to retrofit a Boxster unit with a compatible flash. At least with the boxster MAF the factory flash will work.
My understanding is that the Hitachi MAF retrofit still requires a new flash but renders the factory flash unusable.
I'm a bit reluctant to completely abandon the factory flash due to warranty issues.

Is the blown MAF problem more common in the GT640 and up levels of HP? I was told that below 600HP, it shouldn't be a problem....I blew a my MAF about a month ago. My dealer replaced it still under warranty and no issues so far. I have to admit, i've been babying the car a bit..afraid to blow it again. what a pain and i'm only a stage 4 car.
You can definitely feel the EVO box. Don't have a picture of the waffle, but it is a piece that is pulled out of the factory box. Take a look inside and you can see it (there is also a fine metal screen in there as well).

Blown Maf
I have 22k on my chipped x-50 with exhaust and wastgates have not blown 1 maf yet. my engine does not have the required (excess) cfm to take out the sensor. IMHO the ring I was shown, EVO's fix does not decrease the air feet per minute (fpm) through the intake tubing so I am not suprised that guys are still tearing the element on the maf's. The intake tubing needs to be increased to drop the fpm across the maf, then the program needs to be re-done. again just IMHO.
