Cracked Radiator :( Anyone removed it before?

After a drive with some fellow 6speedonline members sunday, we noticed my car was leaking radiator fluid when stopped. I took it to the dealer since they had just done some work on the car a couple of weeks ago and now they are telling me that the radiator is cracked at the top.

I find it very strange since I have not driven the car much and I would remember if I hit something, but oh well you cant win with those guys..

I found the OEM radiator online:
http://www.thepartsbin.com/repsite/a...r~reparts.html

For $431.00 compared to the $800 the dealer wants for it..

Has anyone replaced it before? or does anyone have the repair manual on a CD and can send me some info on this? I am buying the repair book but wont arrive until a few days and I want to have it ready for this weekend we have the exotics run!!

Any help is appreciated.. Also anyone know of a good Porsche Dealer by Queens NY? other than Manhattan Motorsports (my old service advisor is not there anymore and the new one does not help much!!)

Can't help with the part numbers for you, but here is a good link for your DIY question.

I just had right front replaced. (cracked) Dealer did it under warranty since there was no indication of road damage.

If you do it, you have to remove bumper, drain system, replace damaged one, and follow bleeding procedure carefully. Ususally jack up the rear as you fill and run the engine to get the air out if you don't have a pressure bleeder.
Good luck
Elliot

Sorry I forgot to update the thread.

I decided that I would not pay the dealer over $1800 to replace something I knew I did not damage. I went ahead and purchased the radiator for $450 and took the car to my buddies shop to get to it!!

It took me a little over 2 hours to get it all installed it was extremelly easy, the radiator is not cracked anywhere it seems like it just gave out at the top, I will definatelly send a letter to Porsche of America to see if they can refund me the cost of the radiator!

Thank you everyone for all the help
