Vag-Com / Code Reader Tool?

Please tell me there are code readers like Vag-Com style for these cars?
I ran by the dealer today to get a code checked (turned out to be for the DV's which it threw about an hour before i swapped them - one of which was definitely bad) and they hit me for $100...
Does any of the same vag-com/pro-diag type tools work with the porsche? i have an 01 with a mid year build date (may or june).

TIA

If you have Vag Com go to the OBD2 section and hit read. It will work fine.

So that is the functionality that came in 5.04 and later from the looks of it on their site...obviously its not 'supported' on the porsche, but i can live with that...is there any particular interface required?

Yes Sir.

It is not, but it will log and does work. I have the Hex Com cable as well as the Hex-Can. But you do not need the CAN for the 01.

Also, if you do not have VAG Com and are going to buy something. Look at Durametircs tool. It is better setup and for Porsche.

did you see the car dude? i got it a couple months ago...its sick - its on www.dvillain.net if you want to check it.
Dave put in a southbend DXD/sachs clutch the other day, got new DVs in it (one was shot...big suprise), Claus' fabspeed exhaust off his GT2, an escort srx police avoidance system, and the CF up by the defroster surround was messed up by the previous owner parking in the socal sun, so the saridea guys are one-offing new CF pieces for that currently (saving me the year long wait time and several Gs from porsche)...so this one is on its way anyway :-)
you still driving the sportec S4?

I'm in and out of town these days So I don't get up that way much. I'm sure Abhishek will take care of you at Saridea, he's an friend of my family. I'm still beating up the S4, nothing else suits my fancy for a new car yet. This durametric software looks promising, I looked at them a while back but it looks like they have expanded what it supports. I'm sure you'll love your new ride, I was just driving one last weekend and they sure are nice!

Got it and that software rocks. It's already paid for itself even.

Looks like there are several lurkers here! Congrats on the purchase dave, heard through the boys at ASW you picked one up. Good friend of mine is dropping his x50 off wednesday for the GT700 kit, stop by and check it out if you get the chance. And pete, been sometime, life treating you well?
