Why are the 996 Turbo Ss holding value so well?
N/A guys should stop complaining about prices! :D
Stop complaining you guys! In N/A you don't know how good you have it! The rest of the world pays far more for all these cars than you guys
(Especially those of us in RHD countries).
In Australia fro example, there are probably only about as many 996TTs PERIOD as the numbers you are quoting for the Turbo Ss! Ie only a few hundred were ever sold here over the 4 year run. Here we pay $150k-$200k (Australian dollars - currently AU$1 = US$0.80, so US$150k = US$120k) for "vanilla" 996TTs. They retailed here from AU$300k when new! Although to be fair at that time the Aussie $ was only worth around US 50-60c (it's funny how much exchange rates can change).
I think in the UK vanilla 996TTs are running from around the &40k- &60k (pound) mark as well, which is somewhere in between US and Aussie prices, probably due to more cars sold in the UK in the first place and lower local taxes?
Part of the reason for our higher prices are local taxes (10% import duty + 25% luxury car tax on top of the wholesale/landed price), but lower volume/exclusivity is also a significant part of the equation.
